| She's on 100% grain free, she's had a variety. Is potatoe a filler? I would like a brand that hasn't had recalls. |

YT 3000 Club Member | solid gold has had very few recalls, I have been very happy with it through the years, they had a recall voluntary about a year ago, but nothing other than that. People have different ideas about potato and it is not a filler good luck |

| Fromm hasn't had a recall. They have grain free varieties & I've heard that a lot of pups do well on Fromm. Is there a reason you're switching to something with less protein? If your pup is doing okay on Acana, why switch? Unless your pup has liver problems, I think that 29% would be okay.

| Potato is a source of carbohydrates & it spikes the sugar level. I prefer no potatoes bc Princess had yeasty ears that I had to clean out every other day bc it got brown gunk in it. Once I stopped giving her sugary foods, her yeasty itchy ears cleared up. Acana has single lines that are a little lower in protein (I think?)...not sure if it's grain free. You also need to take into consideration the protein in the food not coming from a meat source, like peas, & some other plants & veggies. So the actual protein coming from meat is actually less than what it says on the guaranteed analysis.

| You could try Amicus (grain free with around 30 protein) or you could try Pulsar (grain free with around 28 protein). Both are made by Horizon, a small Canadian company that manufactures their own foods using locally sourced ingredients. Fromm is also very good. My dogs love the duck and sweet potato formula. We rotate for variety. I haven't used them yet, but NutriSource also has some very good foods.
