| I didn't realize she is 6 months old. Not sure if she still needs the syrup now but you can still try wetting with water the way I described. Don't feel bad - I was the same way just a month ago and still am!

| When I first got my yorkies, they stopped eating what the breeder sent along to feed them. I was really concerned. I felt like I had tried so many things. The vet told me to try baby food mixed with the dry food. That worked for a while but they even started to turn their nose up at that or just licked the baby food off. I read an article by a dog behaviorist that you kind of got to stick to your guns with them, make them understand that you are their source of food. They stuck their nose up for about two feedings then realized that the food I was giving them was it and they better get used to it. This is a little risky with Yorkies as some are prone to hypoglycemia, but I watched them and had no problems. Right now, I feed chicken soup dry mixed with a little of the wet. My little man sometimes picks the dry out. I'm not sure if he's just picking it out or saving it for a treat later. Either way, it's gone when I check later (although my female could be sneaking it, too). Again, they'll go through spells where they'll turn their nose up for a feeding or two but they eat when they're hungry. And, I always leave a little of the dry out for them to eat even though it never seems to get eaten. Dawn |

I'm so happy the Chicken Soup worked for you. Read the label and you'll see why. ---------------------------------------------------------

Feed your baby the wet and keep the dry down. Gradually decrease the amount of liquid that you place in her food. May take time on the fussy eater. I have never been one to say eat the dry or do without. Goats milk works wonders if you are worried about hypoglycemia or nutrition- has a extra boost of sugar in it. Be careful if you use goats milk and nutical or nutristat- you can give them a sugar high. Kathy | |

No Longer a Member | Gizzard (Gizmo) has finally found a food he will eat in the Lil Ceasars. Getting kind of expensive tho. He is 11 lbs. and has been eating one can twice a day. One can just won't do it, he gets hungry and they are kind of small. Vet said if all he will eat is wet then go with it but tarter will build up and watch his teeth. Hasn't had any tummy flare ups with this food. Was all hyped up to try the chicken soup food and now all the hype, just don't know. We live in Texas and supposedly not on the list. Tried the Nuvo for sensitive stomach and it worked for a couple of days then turned his nose up. Maybe feed one can and try another dry food and leave it out? Guessing here. |

| I never heard of the Cesar's dog food before, do you know if they sell it here in Canada, Nelly is on the Nutra Ultra but she eats it only because it is the only thing there. She is not fussy on the dry either but every day I will mix some of the canned Nutra in with it but only if she eats the dry the day before. She wants to eat my older dogs food. I have to sit on the floor with my older dogs when they eat so Nelly does not get at it and I have to feed Nelly on my table because my older dogs want to eat hers. I was also told that the dry is very good for their teeth. My oldest dog is 14 and is starting to lose some of his teeth and I was thinking about switching to the wet but I was told at the pet store that the dry is still good for him and will help his teeth stay there longer. I might add that my dogs are very smart, if I put a little treat like yogurt or wet food on their dry sometimes they will lick it off acually they will suck it off and spit the dry back into the bowl. |

| Yorkie food fwiw, we mix 1 tblspoon plain wholemilk yoghurt with 1tblspoon shredded meat (chicken, beef) or canned meat, put this in the bowl and top with dry eaglepack kibble. sparkles has to eat the kibble to get to the fresh meat below. she likes the taste of kibble which we also use as a treat in training her. the kibble is important for tooth development, especially during teething, and to clean away tartar. however, if you have the opportunity, look at a dog that has been given just dry kibble as compared to one with a more varied diet (and at 6mos you can start adding veggies, etc.) You notice the difference most in the silkiness of their hair and general facial appearance, which for some reason appears more alert or "bright eyed" as i would put it. Of course, if your schedule/time doesn't permit, your yorkie should be ok on dry food alone. If you are a little more concerned with your pet's appearance & health, i'd also suggest adding an occasional liquid (live) supplement of acidophilous to the yoghurt, and also a good combined omega fatty acid (flax+fish oil+e complex). |
