It seems like a long way to go, but if he eats it, it will be worth it. Right now I am throwing away more than he is eating. I'm trying a bit of home cooking for him too, but I do want to use some sort of kibble as a back up when we camp etc or when time doesn't allow for cooking. The only store in Canada that sells CC is Global Pets, and unfortunatly we do not have one of them in Medicine Hat nor do we have a locally owned pet store, just Petland & PetSmart.. Sigh... If he could just enjoy his kibble as much as he loves his veggies, we'd be set! ;) |
Enzo the picky :-)) I know the feeling with picky pups. Have you tried sprinkling a small amount of Parmesan cheese, or a few bits of his favorite treat on his kibble? Mine won't eat any kibble without seasoning. Then he eats it all. Hope you can find a solution other than the long drive. |

Do they have a pet food delivery business where you are? If it's hard for you to get it, then it would be best to get something locally. Mine all did well on Wellness Core. GL w/whatever you choose! |
Anybody ever hear of "Go" dog food? Also, I read on another thread that a Yorkie mom feeds kibble during the day, along with fruits & veggies and then home cooks his evening meal..Now that I could handle! Should I use the BalanceIt on his home cooked? |

I used CC for a while. I had very high expectations due reviews made by other members, sadly id did not work for us, vet said it was too strong for my girls, a have a 3 pound little girl and she would swallow the kibble, which ended up with her vomiting. I tried cutting it into pieces but still she would get tummy pain. My bigger yorkie also started developing an acid breath due the food (this is what my vet said). So I started home cooking, I just got exhausted searching for the right kibble. Overall my opinion is, whatever works for your babies, in my experience brands can be a hit or a miss, so it is kind of a trial and error operation. I would recommend you to try with trail sizes of the kibbles you have in mind until you find the right one for you fur baby. You will need a lot of patience to go slow with switching foods and a lot of time and observation, but you will eventually get results. |
Decisions...decisions. I stay confused on what to feed Hannah especially after reading entire post about food for Yorkies. I am feeding the new Science diet kibble and Wellness in the can and she seems to be doing just fine for now. My concern is that there might be ingredients in what I have choosen that may affect her later on. I also give her Bill Jacks Peanut Butter snacks and she loves them. I know that everone has their own opinions and expereinces but these are our babies and I will buy or do whatever is best for Hannah to insure that she is with me for a long time to come. I just wish there was a easy list for reference. |

Wellness overall is a great company & food. I used to feed mine Wellness Core kibble. Just do not feed their canned food. Royal Canin is also great & many breeders use it. Hope you'll find a suitable canned food for your pup. |
Awesome info everyone! My 8 month old is on RC right now. She loved it and now hates it. She wont touch it. So half a bag I have to throw away.. I have been trying different free samples I got. I just got the Wellness so I am going to try that. With all this positive feedback I might go buy a bag of CC and see if she likes this!!! :D. I know I have a Especially for Pets by me and I believe they sell CC. |
Isn’t it funny how picky these little turkeys are! LOL One of the issues I had with Peanut was he didn't eat as much as he should. Before he was on CC he was on Acana. Acana had a formula switch and after that he couldn't tolerate it. That is when I tried a couple foods and nothing was working. Then I found out about CC . He loved it from the start. It has been 8 months and he still licks his bowl clean. I can tell he really enjoys the taste. The kibble is a great size as well- perfect for little mouths. |
