| Switched foods on my boys Some of you may have remembered a few of my posts over the last 4 months or so saying that my boys were having ear infections and gaining a lot of weight. They were on Taste of the Wild for years & years. I decided to switch foods and we tried 3-4 different types. Luckily they have strong tummies, we had NO problems at all switching foods. Anyways, for right now we settled on Canidae, they seem to like it ok and the ear problems are getting few & far between. Also, they seem to be dropping some weight. YAY! I am really hoping to get my Dexter down to a svete 6.5lbs and Fletcher, well I'll settle for 12lbs... but he should be around 10.5-11lbs. HAHA (he's about 14lbs now!) Now if only Mama could shed some weight too! Anyone have any concerns with Canidae foods?

| Quote: I am not willing to spend $18 on a 2.5lb bag (price of Royal Canin!) thats just INSANE to me. Also Im not going to do Canine Caviar since I can't get it at a retail speciality pet store, I don't want food I need to mail order for. I would have loved to try it though. What about Blue Buffalo?

| LOL I feel for ya! I'm personally not a fan of BB. I know some YTer's feed it and do well. 254 Complaints and Reviews about Blue Buffalo Pet Foods I feed CC and I'm so happy with the results. Why don't you want to mail order food? I find it easier-

| LOL Girl you are too much!! Once I get low with Peanut’s food I will order it- it will usually get to me within a couple days. Easy as Pie! I love CC, like you I have tried everything under the sun- nothing worked on Peanut like CC. He is normally itchy with this heat coming. He isn't! It is great! His skin, coat, weight, eyes look wonderful. He has been super healthy! I would really try it if I were you- since you have tried everything else what do you have to lose?

| How about the Fromm Gold line? My boys eat Fromm from the 4 Star line, but other members have commented that Gold has fewer ingredients. It is lower in calories and fat per cup than TOTW. I hope you can find the right food to help put an end to the ear problems, and to help them keep off weight.

| It's $14.99 or less for a 5 pound bag. Very reasonable and usually easy to find at specialty shops.

| The probiotics are really helpful with ear issues (yeast) and the Canadae foods typically have plenty of them. You can feed other foods and use the probiotics as a supplement... |

| I wouldn't really be too worried about Canidae if you can get it close-by and your boys do well on it. They are moving away from Diamond and they recently made a brand new plant. I would just find out which particular formulas may still be made there and avoid those.

| I had never actually fed Canidae since it was made by Diamond and I had bad luck with all Diamond foods, including TOTW, Chicken Soup, Premium Edge, Canidae, Solid Gold, and Wellness. My dogs got bad gas from ANY food made by Diamond. We are currently rotating between Fromm (4 Star formulas) and Horizon (Legacy and Amicus). My dogs do well on these foods. You have to get them at specialty pet food stores, or you can order online. Usually, Fromm would be easier to find than Horizon. Both are smaller companies and are good foods.

| ok.. I guess I'll order CC and I'll get a bag of Fromm from the local specialty pet shop. See how my boys do on those. Luckily they seem to be like their mama and have a stomach of steel bc they don't get loose stools at all with all these food changes.

Welcome to Nature's Pet Cuisine Since you are in Texas it might be a little more for shipping.. This place is in Ca in Brea. It is maybe 40 mins from me and the shipping is like 6/7$ which is not bad. It is worth it to me because for me to drive there and back it would be more in gas LOL Since I have a gas sucker truck! You can always go on the CC website, find the food you are feeding and then do a search in your city.. you might have stores in your area that sell and ship too!
