| Help with Denamarin Today was Cruz's first day on Denamarin and he would not take the pill. I never have had any problems giving him anything in the past. He would gobble anything up! He kept backing up from me when I held it in my hand. My husband had to put it in his mouth and keep his mouth closed -which I really never want to do again! Any ideas how I can get him to take it?? He can't have treats so the pill-pockets are out.... |

| I get tired of pills spit back in my face so I use pill pockets. Works every time.

| If you can't use the pill pockets you can put a little in something he likes - sweet potato, etc. Mine eat around their pills.

| I don't think so. He is on Hills L/D too. The vet said no treats. I know some people on here give their babies veggies, cottage cheese, & apple sauce for low protein treats so I always wondered why my vet said no. His #'s are not that high!? (Post BAT was 45). |

| Pills Sorry that your boy will not take the pill and I can see how you hate force feeding him. I wonder if an exception could be made for the very small amount of pill pocket etc that is needed to get him to take the essential medication? Would the vet consider the risk from one small treat acceptable compared with not taking the pill? Please do not do this without the Vet's permission, but sometimes risk/reward situations have to be considered? |

| I use a Pill-popper (the kind with a rubber tip from my vet) when I give it to Tink. The Denamarin works best on an empty stomach, and should not be broken or chewed. After giving it to her for almost a month, it got a lot easier, she accepted it better as that became our morning routine. After she takes her pill, she gets a ton of praise, and we play with her toys for a bit.

| Pill popper? I do not know about this, how does it work? Does it just shoot it down the throat? Thanks. |

| I'll have to make a video on small dog pilling, lol. This is how to pill a cat with a pill popper, the method is the same for dogs (but it's easier with a dog)

| Braunschweiger works wonders for me! First I smash up the pill, then put it in the Braunschweiger spread. I usually make the spread into little balls , and mix particles of the pill in each ball...Worth a try! |

| Yes, they can choke. I have found if I pill Tink after she has taken a drink, that the pill goes down easier.
