| Ticks At one of my dogs yearly visits to the vet yesterday the vet and I had a long chat about ticks and Lyme disease. We are just loaded with ticks and I could not take the dogs for a walk without bringing back at least 1 tick. She has been using Scalibor tick collar for 2 years now and has never found a tick on her dog. Has anyone tried it or know anything about it? The collar is expensive but not when you can cut it and use it for 4 dogs. She suggested I fasten it under their collars with zip ties. The collar is long enough to make collars for them all. The charge was $50.00 but well worth it to keep ticks off! |

| I just found this on Amizion for $27.99. I'll take the collar back to the vet today and get it from Amazion. Wow, I can't believe the mark up at the vet's office! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | That looks interesting! We are lucky here not to have to worry about ticks. But when we travel, we sometimes do. Btw, have you heard of Neem Oil or spray? That is supposed to be a natural repellent. You can get it online, at Whole Foods etc.

| I have never been a fan of tick or flea collars because its poison all right there around there little heads. I use advantix and get the Lyme shot and she has done ok.

| i agree with taylor ...i dont even like applying revolution to my babies but this has helped us with no ticks or fleas...advantix ii wasnt working for us anymore. maybe look into switching up your monthly topical...it might just not be working in the area you are in anymore they do become immune at least the fleas to some of the topicals. wishing you the best of luck with what ever direction you decide cause i despise those varmits.

| Honestly, putting chemicals on their back, and into their systems through vaccine, is just as 'bad' as having a collar around their neck. But I agree that I've never been a fan of the collars (mostly just because the ones that are out aren't really safe, IMO). I've never heard of this one though. I'd actually prefer to put on a tick collar when I knew we were going to be out in areas where they'd be more likely, vs. putting something like advantix on his back to last for the whole month. I'll have to look into this.

YT 2000 Club Member | I used Revolution last year with no problems. My JoJo will lick stuff so I was very weary of using the scalibor collar the vet recommended. They also recommended using Triflexis but I did not like what I read about that. You must all do your research and choose the safest stuff for your dog. No chemicals are good but we have to keep them safe from the pests. With Revolution you can bathe your dog and it does not come off. I will probably use that stuff again. |
