Question regarding Buffalo Blue Bella had been eating Science Diet small bites and had been doing fine for a while, but she has been itching a lot lately and I figured it must be her food. She has not been out much with the cold winter and we do not have carpet in the our house. Just a couple of days I bought a small bag of Buffalo Blue to try because I read good reviews, but just yesterday I saw a post that BB has been having a lot of complains with sick furbutts, so ofcourse this mommy is concern... Please tell me of your experience with this food. Any troubles? Thanks. |
I feed my pack blue Buffalo basics, and is been fine, all companies have a recall in their history, the only way to make sure you feed anything that has never been recalled is to cook yourself and I don't have the know how or the time to cook for the pack , I have no issues with Blue buffalo and I also always check for recalls making sure mine is not on the list. hugs, |
I will look forward to replies to this question. My sister feeds her yorkie BB and lately she has been having some stomach problems |
I use the Basics line I have a silky and a yorkie that are allergic to chicken, so I use basics without chicken, and the puppy formula grain free for my puppies, never had a issue yet. I been feeding basics for a year now.. hugs, |
I started my guy out on BB and it went through him as fast as he ate it. We switched him to Iams and it cleared up. He is back on bb now the puppy chicken and rice. We found out the problem was he was on lamb and oatmeal and the say a lot of dogs can't handle lamb too well and it goes right through them. Since switching to the chicken and rice he has not had any issues. Our cat is also switched to bb from a vet formula food. |
Lamb is a very heavy meat even for humans, I never use any formula with lamb in it, is also hard to digest. I found that Turkey is a great formula, easy on the tummy, I can't feed anything with chicken to my adults because I have 2 that have severe chicken allergies, and they do great on turkey. hugs, |
Ours are on BB Freedom grain free chicken & potato. They have not had any issues with loose stools. |

I feed BB basics and freedom, alternate for interest. Huey has not has any stomach issues since switching to BB. He had lot of issues on Purina One. |
I know the food is of excellent quality & a lot of dogs do really well on Blue Buffalo, but BB did make one of my dogs sick. Clyde loved BB and he would gobble it all up whenever I would feed him. Dexter really loved it to, but it caused him a lot of stomach issues. He would throw up all the food a little bit after eating it & it gave him really bad diarrhea. I switched them to Innova dog food and they both do really great on it. |
With all foods there are going to be some people whose dogs did not do well on it. I have tried many foods and we always end up back on blue buffalo. It's about ingredients, the company that you feel comfortable with and what your dog does well on. We are on the freedom small breed. |
Thank you everyone!! I am feeling better of the desion of changing food to BB. I appreciate all the help! :) |
We feed blue buffalo basics to our three, they love it. |
I just started using Blue Buffalo Wilderness, I have 4 yorkies eating it, two 11 pounders and two that are 2.5 and 2 pounds. Does anyone use this and are you pleased with it? I went with grain free because I had been feeding Natures Variety Instinct. It was getting a little expensive with 4 and I had heard good things about bb. The bb rep was at the store when I purchased it and she said one of the best things about bb is that all of the ingredients are from America. Any experiences will be appreciated. |
