OK folks, I have a question that I seem to forget to ask when at the Vet.
Can a yorkie have an allergy problem (as in having to get shots weekly due to enviro allergies) and a yeast problem at the same time? I know that allergies cause the immune system to move into "hyperdrive" , but also know that yeast can take over when the system is suppressed. Seems like I have a dog with both right now. Can anybody help?

You know the issues Raley is having. The answer on my end is yes! Can't wait to see Dr. MacDonald on Monday!!!!!

I can bathe Raley with his medicated shampoo and within 24 hours he has the yeast odor. It just does not seem to ever go away!!

Yes, they can definitely have both. In fact, they could have both of those and then also have a bacterial skin infection (pyoderma) at the same time too.

This is exactly what my Raley is being treated for through the Auburn Vet School.

Awww, poor kiddo...I hope Raley feels better soon. Are you doing allergy testing and then shots?

My Wylie had recurrent pyoderma and skin issues prior to his Cushings and hypothyroid being diagnosed...poor guy was miserable.
