| wanting to change food, suggestions please? Emma has always gotten purina pro plan and I feel like she's tired of it, any wet food she has ate before (just a few times and recently at the vet other day) she seems to get a tad diarea from it. I'd like to get her on a regular eating pattern because lately she hasn't been eating much it seems. I've read some on here about recipes to do, but I am the worst at any type of cooking/preparing food! Any suggestions of things I could purchase for her or ideas for breakfast/dinner meals? |

| Purina is not a company I'd prefer to support. While their Pro Plan formulas aren't bad, they produce treats which have been killing dogs (finally just recalled) as well as a food (Beneful). So I don't really trust them very much! Are you wanting to homecook? If so, I'd find a canine nutritionist who can formulate something for you. It needs to be properly balanced, etc. Some good kibbles though are Fromm, Precise, Annamaet, Canine Caviar, etc. You could always use canned as a topper... or even eggs, chicken, etc, to give it more flavor.

| hmm i will try those. There is 1 local petstore thats locally owned, they have a smaller but higher end selection vs petsmart, i will go by there and see what they offer. Oh i know she loves eggs whenever i cook them she waits for a piece to fall and is on it very quick lol |

| Toki has always done well on Fromm! I'd also look into Acana and Earthborn. In terms of foods at Petsmart, we have had good results with Blue Buffalo. Toki was on the Chicken and Oatmeal for puppies and the Wilderness formula as well. While I like BB (it is more readily available in bigger pet stores), I do think that it is a little overpriced for what it is and that you can get the same quality (if not better) for much less if you feed something like Fromm or Earthborn. I hope that you are able to find a food that Emma finds appealing |

Senior Yorkie Talker | We feed Taste of the Wild Fromm and Acana are great too. Acana was just a bit too rich for Bentley. Our boxer did great on it though. :::::Edit: Sorry for the double post!::::: Last edited by Lucyana1129; 01-20-2013 at 08:15 PM. |

| Purina owns the waggin train chicken jerky that they would not pull and recall until almost 400 dogs were killed because of it and one of there dog foods is making dogs sick too. I would not support this company and would be terrified to feed there food. I think Fromm, Blue Buffalo and Acana are all good brands.

| What do you feed your Yorkie What's the best food for our babies? I was suggested Royal Canin 29 our baby is 10 weeks. She was on Purina Healthy Morsels, with all Purina recalls ready to move away from Purina. Thanks |

| Hello Ayna - Our little 7 month old Izzy started on Royal Canin and hubby and I noticed that she was always itching so I recently switched her to Spot's Stew (this is the company/food that Ellen Degeneres endorses) and Izzy doesn't itch like she used to. They have Spot's Stew for puppies. Others have mentioned Fromm, Canine Caviar and Acana. I would definitely not feed them something from the supermarket or big box stores - I would get a more specialized food from a pet store. Actually, I think our pups eat better than the family sometimes. Good luck!

| Mine all eat FROMM! They are eating Surf N'Turf grainfree at present. I feed Purina Proplan for 15 years til their treats- Waggin Train/Canyon Creek- killed my Zoey. I will never buy another Nestle Purina Product myself. The same goes for DelMonte (Milo's Kitched) that makes killer treats as well.

| Jacksmom- I too fed Royal Canin and then switched over to spots stew. I switched cuz my little one was itchy. They go crazy for spots stew but now I've noticed they have eye boogers like crazy. Have you noticed any eye runs??

| We feed Horizon Legacy and Fromm. They are the 2 top foods my pet food store recommends (in that order). I like to rotate for variety. Other people have given you some good options too. I prefer not to feed anything from Purina or Diamond. My dogs have never done well on anything made by Diamond, including Taste of the Wild, Wellness, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Kirkland (from Costco), Premium Edge, or any other Diamond food. Not sure what it is about foods that Diamond makes, but after not liking the results of their foods and with all the big recalls they have had, I just stay away from ANYTHING made/manufactured by Diamond. If you are buying your food from Petco or Petsmart, you might look into Blue Buffalo or Nature's Variety.

| I feed Canine Caviar http://mycaninecaviar.com/ Peanut loves the food and I don't have to add anything to it.
