| Moses and Liver shunt I thought I would take a few minutes to tell you all that Moses is back to normal and doing fine following his liver shunt surgery. On Thanksgiving weekend, I noticed he was having a hard time going potty. I immediately thought "UTI." Well, we had his urine tested and the vet suspected liver shunt. He was asymptomatic, so I didn't believe this was his problem. We had an ultrasound done and lo and behold...there it was...a liver shunt. I had no idea what that even was, and was referred to a fabulous surgeon who took 45 minutes to explain what a liver shunt is, how this happens and how to correct it. We scheduled the surgery and I was a nervous wreck...worried about anesthesia, worried about what they would find and how Moses would recover. Well, one month after his shunt was cauterized, his incision is healed and he is back to normal! I was so impressed with the surgeon and he gave Moses a clean bill of health today! I am so grateful that we caught this at this stage in his life. If he were any older, they wouldn't have done the surgery! If anyone needs a full explanation of what a liver shunt is, just give me a holler!
