It is sooo Nice now to flip him over and have him be completely clear... I used to rub some Nutiva organic coconut oil on the spots, or I would give him some Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Pet. I haven't had to do any of that in months. And, Riley genuinely LOVES the food. He literally shrieks and does circles, Still 5-months later. That makes Momma Happy!!!! | |

| Hey Riley n Pnut Moms! I agree w/ changing everything possible before meds. Never put Chloe on them and it was so time-consuming to treat her, but she LOVED the nightly body scratching and attention I gave her. ![]() I should have said thanks in my post, cause I sent DH out this A.M.to the local store I found that's s'posed to carry CC. That's the first thing I'll try before asking the vet for meds. R'sM...did R's spots ever get really dark? Chloe's were blackish and raised. When I'd rub her skin w/ a cream to help sooth her, they would soften and I could scratch some of them right off her skin. No odor or anything. Though those didn't seem to make her itch. Just another symptom of her unusual skin issues. Coco started getting them now too. tiny blackish spots. Anywho. As I said...I've learned more in these few days than YEARS of experience and vet visits.YT parents rOCK! |

Little brown/black speckles on skin, itching, licking, digestive upset, uti are all signs of yeast, a simple skin cytology will tell what bacteria it is by looking under the microscope. Since she's getting black spots on her skin, I think she needs to see a vet asap. Hope u'll find answers soon!

| Hi MimiMo - I have NOT taken Coco to vet yet. Her symptoms were SO much like Chloe's, who I did take several times to the vet, I decided to do some more research. Like someone (R'sM?) mentioned, my vet thought it was flea/bug related. (I'll try to upload a pic. Tho I'm having some diff w/ that) DH came home empty-handed . Local store not stocking CC dog food. Going online to find. I agree Pnut's Mom. Until Anne said food allergies accounted for 10% I was blaming food for it and changing weekly!!! Sure I didn't make it ANY better. After CC, I hope to maintain. Dreary day here in the NE...and everyone's a good one. Njoy your weekend everyone! |

| Does anyone know anything about the special needs formula? I saw it listed on a few of the sites when I was looking to buy online (no store within 500 miles... boo). Roxie is "over-weight" at about 8.5 pounds. I currently feed her Nutro Ultra weight management. Lady at the store suggested feeding it to her for 3 months and the weight would fall off allowing me to switch to the regular kind. She's been on it well over a year... but anyway. Not so concerned with that anymore. I happened to find this thread and Roxie is a chronic foot licker/biter causing them to get red. Sounds like she'd be a good candidate for this food. Should I try special needs? Is that a weight management kind? |
