| Allergies My 3 year old Yorkie developed a really bad allergy to something. He had difficulty breathing especially at night, he was snoring etc. I took him to the vet and his lungs were clear but his nose was really stuffy. She gave me allergy medicine and within a week he improved a great deal. I have a one month supply of these pills. He still has some signs of the allergy, a little bit stuffed up. I don't know if I should continue giving him the pills or not, what do you think? He seems to have reached a plateau not getting better not getting worse. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I would continue with it. To clear the whole thing up. I would also try to figure out what is causing the allergies. I would speak to the vet about this.

| Allergies Luckily I have a good idea what caused it. We were in the UK and I tried a new organic dog food, it was the only change in diet or environment in months so I can limit it to the food. I do not know what particular ingredient he was allergic to. He has never had a reaction to any other food, and has not had allergies before. Thanks for your reply. |

| It could be the food I suppose but usually airborne allergies effect the respiratory system. Maybe having the dry air from running the furnace or something else that changed in the air? There are certainly enough different things a dog can be allergic to. You could try taking him off the medication and see if there is a difference in his condition. If he is still having problems maybe talk to the vet about testing to see what it is he is actually allergic to. It doesn't seem to make sense to continue to treat for an allergy that could be eliminated if you knew what it was. |
