| NV Instinct Raw Boost Chicken We're trying a new food!!!....AGAIN here's luma's food history... Chicken Soup for Puppy Lover's Soul: She hated this food but did okay on it. It's what she was weaned onto by her breeder so we tried to stick her on it but she wouldnt eat it. Taste of the Wild High Prarie Puppy: Got a sample of it and she loved it, plus it was grain free. She ate it for two or three months. She did great on it and had no skin issues. Then Diamond had the salmonella issue so I swore off all Diamond stuff Fromm Gold Puppy: This food RUINED her coat. She got dandruff, itching, biting, scabs, sores and horrible eye goop. Acana Pacifica: Skin issues did not get worse but she never recovered from the fromm issue. I chose it because she had never had a formula with fish, so I gave it a try simply to get her off the fromm. I think it was the duck in the fromm that started all this mess. Poor baby is miserable. Anyways we're gonna try this Natures variety food, it is grain free kibble with bits of raw mixed in...let's hope she thrives on it! I want my baby to feel better!! This has been such a long ordeal I'm really ready to just home cook for her....may do that if this doesnt work out. All the vet does is put her on an antibiotic or tell me to give her benadryl. Her ears are completely dandruffy, shes got sores from biting on her whole body...its ridiculous.

| Poor Luma. We're still struggling with Sophia's skin issues too, so I know how you're feeling. I really hope the new food works for you guys!

| Thank you!! It's getting more annoying since her hair is getting pretty long...she has beautiful hair, but beneath it is all kinds of yuck What are you feeding Sophia and Brody? And how is her incision looking now?

| I am just finishing up our first bag of the NV Instinct Raw Boost dry food. It has gone over well but I have noticed 2 things... 1. Maddie Jo will sometimes turn her nose up at it so I have to add some green beans or something to entice her to eat. 2. Moo (my 'sensitive' girl) loves the food but she is scratching and licking again. Moo gets itchy on just about any dry food...the only things that have stopped her from itching have been home cooking or a raw diet. They do love a raw diet and they do well on it so that is what I am returning to and that's where they will stay...hubby will just have to deal with them not having dry food out all the time and we'll have to be sure we have a good cooler for their food when we travel. |

| The vet had her on zyrtec for the allergies, but it really wasn't helping. We're switching from Blue buffalo to California Natural because its grain free. So I hope that helps!

| I hope Luma does better on NV Instinct. I know it's frustrating finding the 'right' food. We just switched to Acana Pacifica and Couv has been having horrible eye boogers. I'm trying to wait it out to see if it will go away, but I'm thinking we are going to have to find something else.

| I was looking @ their kibble when I was searching for new food & skipped it bc tapioca was the 2nd ingredient (since the 1st 5 ingredients make up the bulk of the food), plus Turbo is intolerant to anything pumpkin (it has pumpkin seeds in it, he's intolerant to beef too!), so didn't get it. I do feed Mimi & Turbo NV Organic Chicken Raw & they are off kibble for now. But it all comes down to how your individual dog does on the food. Here's a good read/411 about tapioca (it's another dog forum, hope it's ok to post, if not please remove!): Is grain free really all its touted to be?

| A lot of pups are sensitive to Flaxseeds which NV uses in a Lot of their formulas. I have Finally found the food for Riley!!!! He just turned 2 in May.... He has had environmental allergies and the whole nine yards.... He has been eating Canine Caviar Wild Ocean Grain Free ALS Dinner since August 2nd and he is "Finally" COMPLETELY CLEARED UP!!!! He STILL goes nutso over it.... even while in Florida for 11-days. He gobbled it up breakfast & dindin.... which made Me Happy!! And, he was whining and nudging me, this a.m. to get up so he could eat.... I have to be careful because he is always looking up at me with those cute eyes afterward, wanting More!! He likes it sooo much I am almost afraid to change proteins, like some people suggest, when he finishes the on he is one, now. I Really hope Canine Caviar doesn't go changing anything for a long time!! Good Luck!! |
