Retained puppy teeth Khloe will be 9 months old on this Sunday. I spoke with my vet previously and since Khloe was already spayed he wants to wait until the end of the year to see if she looses her baby fangs. My bichon was a late bloomer and she did eventually lose her baby teeth but I am afraid Khloe won't. He said that if she hasn't lost them by November or December then we will put her under anethesia again. The little sharp things don't seem to be budging to me. Why are yorkie's teeth so stubborn to come out?

My puppy just turned 8 months a week ago and none of her puppy teeth have fallen out, but all of her adult teeth have grown in...or most of them. The puppy teeth haven't even budged yet or look like they're ready to fall out. My dog trainer said to keep a close watch out for them in the next six months, or I may need to have them pulled out if they don't come out on their own! I'm hoping they do!

My boy also never lost his baby teeth. (He will be nine in October) The vet pulled most of his baby teeth at the same time he was neutered, but must have missed a few that he removed later. The problem with them not coming out as they should have is that a couple of his molars have come in sideways. This has not been a problem, though and he still eats normally. I would advise you to have them removed if they don't come out. Their teeth are crowded anyway without the extra teeth and they are prone to tooth problems. As my vet explained, they may be toy dogs, but they still have the same number of teeth as a larger dog, and this is a reason they have more oral health problems. I brush my guy's teeth and he still has had a number of teeth removed that were loose or not heathy around the gums. So getting the extra teeth out and regular brushing is important for his future oral health. My vet jokes that vets can put their kids through college on caring for yorkie teeth.

I had an appointment to get my baby spayed at 8 months. She too had 2 canine baby teeth so I planned to have them pulled at the same time. Well she went into heat the week before my planned appointment so I had to cancel it. Meanwhile I worked those teeth any chance I got I would wiggle on them, let her play tug of war with her teeth and wouldn't you know it the week she was to have her surgery they both came out. I am so glad I didn't have to have them pulled. My vet said that would probably bother her more than the spay. I don't know if me messing with them all the time helped, but I would certainly give it a try

Ziva had 6 removed at 7 month spay. Abby played a lot more tugging games and only had two left by 7 months. I use a lot of woven and knotted fleece strips (dampen and freeze them for something different- or hide little kibble in the knots)The little teeth seem to sink into the fleece and push back the gums, polishing the teeth too! I think the faster those baby teeth come out the straighter the new ones come in.

Max Main's Mamma Donating YT Member | Max had 5 teeth removed during his neuter 2 months ago. Since then, he has lost 2 more molars. One of them was stuck on the inside of his adult molar. I found it while brushing and was able to gently pull it out myself. It was causing his breath to smell sooooo bad. I'm glad I found it and it is gone now but I noticed he had bad plaque on the outside of one of his molars. I am afraid he will have to go under again for a cleaning as well. I hope Khloe's teeth fall out on their own and she doesn't have to get them pulled. It is weird that little dogs are prone to dental issues. I guess that is the trade off for having such a cute and loving dog. $$$

Thanks for all the replies. I hope they come out soon. When my daughter gets annoyed with Khloe she calls her "double teeth". Then my daughter tells Khloe that I already paid for her braces and I have no money for doggie braces so those baby teeth better fall out. Khloe can be a little stinker to my daughter. May be a jealousy thing. Khloe wants all the attention but I can't do that with two kids and my bichon. At least Khloe doesn't have to compete with a hubby.
