| ~"Pet Food - A Dog's Breakfast" Pet Food Industry Expose Forgive me if this has been shared already; but this is a favorite of mine to help educate folks about pet nutrition. It's an excellent expose on the pet food industry! The US actually pulled it from ever being aired here (it mentions many brands) but luckily this blogger bought a copy and is able to share it. If you have a spare 45 minutes to watch it you won't regret it! And please do share. Thanks! “Pet Food: A Dog’s Breakfast” Documentary Available in Media Library Collection Poisoned Pets |

| Thanks for sharing. I watched the entire video. I had not seen it before. Makes me really glad that the majority of the food I feed my girls is home cooked by me. This video was from 2007. I am not sure anything has been done to improve the pet food industry.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Thank you for posting this link, I'm always interested in pet nutrition. Most the information on the video I was aware of, but that demonstration with the leather boots was a head shaker! After the pet food recalls in 2007, I began home preparing my dog's meals and have continued to do so. I do supplement with kibble from Wysong, just so that when we're traveling I don't have to worry about meal prep and storage.

| The pet food industry is a disturbing one IMO. I struggled with this as a young pet owner when I made the decision to reject commercial food as a main source of nutrition for my animals. Philosophically, I have a problem with it. But, I always kept some kibble on hand and last year for a period of time my animals ate kibble entirely for about 6 months. Now, I do about 95% home cooked food with 5% kibble. I can't home cook all the time, except for one dog that cannot eat anything commercially available. I believe home cooking has benefitted my animals and has also made me happy but I'm not sure it has spared them any more disease than any other animal or will make them live longer. They live well, for however long I am blessed to have them. It really is an individual choice as to what one wants to feed their pet and what philosophies and factors come into play for that person.
