| Hi, I see you're in Torrance...just wondering why the vet gave Lepto? It's not required & some yorkies & toy breeds have a bad reaction to it. Please skip that next time & if your vet doesn't have that vaccine (w/out the L), try another vet.

| Is Lepto a problem in your area? I know it is in mine (my mom had a goat die of it) so you really need to weigh the risks of Lepto before just deciding not to do it.

LA County Department of Public Health I guess maybe it is okay for him to have the Leptospirosis vaccine. Thanks for reminding me to check the incidence of Leptospirosis in our area. Torrance is in L.A. . | |

| Don't freak out when the injection site starts to swell up a bit either. I didn't know that was gonna happen and it scared me when I was grooming Uni when I found it. It goes away in a few weeks or few months. Uni's took a few months bc she was really skinny at the time. As long as the swelled area doesn't keep getting bigger and it slowly gets smaller over time, it is fine.

| Yes, definately wait until he is 20 weeks. ZoE's vet separates her shots by 4 weeks. He will go longer between shots if there's a scheduling problem, but not less than 4 weeks.

| Ok I just wanna put out there, even though in CA it's "required" for all dogs over 4 months old to be vax for rabies, no one is enforcing it. My "breeder" who turned out to be a broker once I wised up, told me to get her rabies vax'd at 6 months. I didn't. It wasn't until about almost 2 yrs that I thought, Oh maybe I should do it. No one told me that all vets/clinics forward the rabies vax info to your local animal control. After you get the rabies vax you have to HAVE TO get the dog licensed. If you dog is intact, in CA it's $100 for the license! Altered is $40. Don't wanna pay? Non compliance fee is $175. Not only that, the license tag you get in Orange county is a cheap aluminum tag with really sharp rough edges that I had to file down before I put it on Uni. It would have cut off her hair. Other dogs that are bought out of state older than 4-6 months come with a rabies tag and don't have to register their dogs unless you give them the rabies shot again, but why would you?
