| I think ringworm is more of a circle with pimple like bumps around the edge. Maybe it's from the heat? Sorry I'm not much help. |

| You'll have to let us know what it is. When Jack was younger, I had his topknot too tight and he had a perfect little circle where he had pulled the band out - I too thought it was ringworm - vet didn't know what it was other than confirmed it was not ringworm. Needless to say, Jack now wears bangs.

| Doesn't look like ringworm to me. We had a whole litter of pups with the stinkin things. Stupid vet at the time told me that I couldn't catch it.......... I did and it was 9 long months with two places on one are and 1 place on the other that left scars afterwards. Now I look like someone took a cigar and burned me on the arms! I don't think you have that to worry about! (oh yeah, I changed vets!!!) |

| Just wanted to clarify for anyone that wasn't sure that ringworm is a fungus and is definitely contagious to humans. |

| At the time the whole litter had it and I was bathing them in an antifungal shampoo everyday. I didn't wear gloves or do anything to NOT catch it because I was told at the time that I wouldn't get it. Stupid vet. (like I said before, we changed vets) It finally went away on the pups but then I broke out. It was terrible. I tried to just treat it myself but it got so bad I finally went to the doctor. It was oozing and running gunk. eck. Got ointments and antifungal meds (that cost around ($10 a pill!!!) and it FINALLY went away. But like I said I have some scars left from it. Perfect round places on each arm, just like a cigar burn that has healed. If I EVER see it again on a dog or anything I will def take more care in handling it. Wear gloves. Burn stuff. Wash wash wash. You know I have see children have a ringworm or two and it raised up, got red, was treated and went away within about 1 or 2 weeks. Go figure I get it and it takes 9 months!!! sheesh |

| It's true that ringworm is a fungus not a worm or parasite as it's name implies. It is a nuisance, but it does not mean you are unclean or dirty by any means. In order for anyone to get it (animal or human) your immune system has to be somewhat compromised (aside from gross negligence in handling). It is associated with being dirty and unclean because a lot of times the animal that has it is unhealthy for other reasons like puppymill puppies or kittens that are infested with parasites and do live in unimaginable conditions. Just like other germs, ringworm is in the soil and on surfaces that we touch on a daily basis. Healthy immune systems ward it off. If you have never been exposed to ringworm, you may be slightly more at risk to get it as are young chidren, and baby animals. We showed lambs for years where ringworm is rampant. We never did get it. Washing hands goes a long ways in prevention. Also, I have seen ringworm look like tiny small perfect circles to irregular large circles that cover an entire torso on humans. I can't imagine it taking 9 months to clear up a case of ringworm.
