| I noticed a post on raw food and your reply that raw scares you. I have my Zoey on raw and she eats it up in about 25 seconds. There are complete diets that are raw so you don't need to add any vitamins. There is nothing scary about raw except you need to be careful about sanitation. The fat content is about 5-8 percent which is great for pancreatitis. Think about it and give it a try.

| Nature's Variety: Instinct Raw Frozen Diet for Dogs and Cats: Duck Formula | Nature's Variety I like this one, the Vet wants him on 23-25% Protein and 14-15% Fat I think anything lower would be great! I will talk to my vet today about Raw- I would most likely do half Raw, half Kibble-

| Please be careful. The low percentages of fat listed on raw food and canned food havent't been converted to a dry matter basis. When doing this necessary conversion, it turns out that the majority of premade raw diets have a moderate to high fat content and are not appropriate for pancreatitis patients.

| I first fed Primal but noticed that Zoey had a lot of eye buggers so I changed to Nature's Variety and she does great on it. I feed her 2 and 1/2 nuggets in the morning and at night I usually feed her peas/green beans or mixed veggies. Yesterday I bought a bag of Nature's Variety kibble and will feed that with the veggies at night. I don't feed a lot at night - just enough to keep her tummy from being empty.

| You don't want to do half raw and half kibble at the same time. They digest the two differently. It is ok to feed raw at one time and kibble at another time.

I gave him 2 medallions, last night and I gave him 1 1/2 this a.m. He was running around the place, this a.m. Playing Major!!!! Someone told me some pups are more sensitive to Primal.. Who Knows?!?! I attended 2 seminars by both Primal Rep. and Nature's Variety rep. This time last year I had Riley on raw in the a.m. and Acana kibble in the p.m. and he was Thriving!! | |

| Zoey had been on "wet" raw for two years and then three months ago I switched to Chewy & Stellas dehydrated patties. I was concerned because the fat content was like 30%. I expressed this concern on YT and was advised the the conversion after hydrating would bring the content down to a low level. After feeding this for three weeks Zoey got pancreatitis! One day at the vet and it was $900.00. I fed her the RX low fat canned stuff the vet gave me. She loved it - she loves all food. After the 21 days on the canned I returned to Nature's Variety and she is doing great. I think if you want to be confident in your choice - ASK THE VET!

| Deanna, as you can see this is a hot topic - raw vs kibble. The vet is your best answer but be aware that vets are not into raw food. The main problem mine had was the handling of raw food. I was in the food service business for 17 years and I know how important it is to be very sanitary handling raw food. I'm happy with my choice of feeding raw although it is expensive - not for yorkies but for bigger dogs like my maltese. You can look at the websites for Primal and Nature's Variety for answers and info.
