| I think Knox got a bad batch of TOTW. Last week I had him to the vet for vomiting and diarrhea. As a precaution I threw away his food and bought a new batch. I feed him TOTW Bison. He's better now, but I thought I was going to lose him for about 24 hours. He was so sick he couldn't lift his little head. I have fed him Taste of the Wild since he was 12 weeks old. He has thrived on it. Today I found out that Diamond issued a huge recall, including Taste of the Wild. I may switch to another brand. Any suggestions would be appreciated. He's picky. He wouldn't touch Orijen. Last edited by volumnus; 05-07-2012 at 01:13 PM. |

| I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but it's the people getting sick from the salmonella tainted food - not the dogs. We feed TOTW also but our current bag is not in the recall. |

| I bought him another batch of TOTW. I hadn't seen the recall when I made the purchase. I can't undetstand how to check the production code. My code only has seven digits. |

| If humans are getting it from the dog food, you can best believe that dogs are as well. Some people just may not be aware that that is what it is.

| Even if it's not one that they know to be infected I would still not feed it and get a different food.

| The recalls address the fact that dogs may become sick from salmonella so indeed it's true. Hope all goes well with your baby!

| I almost think there's something going on besides salmonella to be honest... My issue with Diamond isn't even this salmonella thing completely. I'm not OVERLY concerned with salmonella (though I do know dogs CAN get ill from it, and obviously have been, and humans are not getting sick from the kibble - human foods are recalled for it quite a bit as well) but it's how they handle the recalls. Apparently they have not been very willing to share info with store owners who even sell their products, either, and I just do not like the way they are handling this. Do you know how many dogs they killed during the 2007 mess? There's obviously something NOT right at that plant, IMO, and if people continue to buy their products, they will continue to make them with the current standards they practice. They shouldn't get any credit for the recalls. They only recalled after the FDA told them they had salmonella - each time. It wasn't their quality control, or anything, that produced this recall. THEY weren't the ones to pick it up so to me... I just wonder what else can slip through the cracks.
