Just want to remind people if they choose to use a dremel make sure that the foot hair is short enough so that it can't get caught in the dremel, or you can also stick their paw through a nylon stocking and just their nails will protrude. |

This is why I stated to do short bursts only and don't apply pressure. Let the tool do the work. I'm still learning too :) |

That the same one I have for Zhoie and we like it too. Sometimes, if I neglect getting to her nails on time:eek: and they are a little longer than normal, I will clip them and then sand so they are smooth. Zhoie just lays on her back on the couch when she gets her pedicure:D She does samething for her sanitary trim, LOL. I think she secretly likes it;) Thanks for the warning Nancy, keeping the hair out of the way is extremely important. |

But if her vet or a boy pup tries it????? NO FLIPPING WAY :sfunslap: :hide2: ;) |
I think I finally have to give in and my this dremel: Dremel 7300-N/5 4.8V MiniMite Cordless Rotary Tool I don't know if Mojo was traumatized by some nail clipping experience that I am unaware of somehow, but he will literally scream when we try to clip his nails. He screams when the vet tech does it, too. I can play with his toes all I want, but as soon as the clippers come out, he bolts. I actually think I'm going to go buy this today. Wish me luck! |

You know - you guys have a out got me convinced I could do this. My concern is that there seems to be so much hair around each nail. Think I'll give it a try now that I have read this. Her nails always seem to be longer than they should and I am so afraid someone will hurt her when they do cut them. Boy, I am really a wuss aren't I  |

I ordered a dremel today. I can't wait to try it. Jada's quicks are so long and it is hard for me to do anything other than the very tips. I did have the vet cut her nails short while she was under anesthesia for her surgery. I am hoping to be able to keep them short I think I will try Nancy's tip too because Jada and Bogie have very hairy toes:D. |

I think I can use the Dremel a few times a week, sort of as an extension to the Sonicare routine :aimeeyork:thumbup: |
When we got Lexie, the vet we got her from shows and raises schnazuers. He uses a dremel and when we got her, her nails were sooo short and looked great. Getting lacks, I really let them grow out tooo long and I got her hair caught in mine. Scared me to death. Nancy gave great advice. I have never heard of doing that but I will try it on mine. Kayla is something else to do. She hates the nail trimmer and panics at the dremel. Hers need cutting now and I will try Nancy's advice. Keep your fingers crossed I don't get bit. lol!! |
