| We keep Callie's trimmed and she still got hers caught and half ripped off and then the nerve and vein were hanging out and she had to go to the vet and had to be sedated while they cut the nerve and vein back and then had to cauterize it.

There's a "featured breeder" on Yorkietalk that doesn't cut off dewclaws, she says it's "unnecessary amputation". I'm glad you are sharing your story, it's important that people understand the risks.

| I think if Callie ever has to get a dental which I'm sure at some point she will I will talk to the vet about removing them. I am crazy about checking them and making sure they stay as short as they can.

| Is it called the "dew Claw" Ok... I really did not know. Corky is doing fine... The swelling went down I been cleaning the past few days. So, now I am letting it dry out. I do not know anything of Corky's background. But I just made up my mind to keep them trimmed at bath time. I am not to upset with the vet; Because I give Corky his baths, and I never noticed it. Thank you guys! |
