| Upset Stomach Hey everyone! I just got a new puppy, less than a week ago. He is 10 wks old. I think he may have had too many treats in ONE day seeing as he had the runs since Friday night. He had very low energy and was NOT like his normal self at all. I STOPPED giving him the treats entirely and was to told to give him to rice along with his normal food that he always eats. This is my first puppy. So i have NO experience. Will the runs stop soon and how long do they normall last for? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | If he is acting lethargic it at all I would take him in to the vet as soon as possible. These little guys get dehydrated so quickly. I would take him in.

| Vet time thats too long for a puppy to have diahrea without a vet check. My quess is he is dehydrated and will need fluids injected. The vet had to do that to chachi when he was a pup and he just had diahrea for 2 days

| Im glad you are taking her to the vet. Things like diahrea can really affect a tiny pup alot more sooner than an adult dog

| Thing to remember with little puppies, especially little toy dogs, like Yorkies, they can get very sick, very quickly...diarrhea can kill one in a couple of days or less....they dehydrate rapidly because they are so small....then you have sugar issues....that can explain the "low energy level" ....Glad you are heading for the vet asap, let us know how the baby is doing when you get back! |

| How is your little one doing? My Abby, aka money pit, had the squirts a few weeks ago. She seemed to get better after two days on some chicken and rice. Then it seemed to come back. Her activity level was the same - play play play, with the occasional sprint to the potty pad with the squirts. Took her to the vet and they could find nothing wrong with her. They gave her a little antibiotic (1/4 pill for 3-5 days), some flora powder, and a can of wet food for intestinal sensitivity. Not sure what caused it. Vet figures the diarrhea cleaned everything out, including the good bacteria, which caused more diarrhea. Three days later she was back to normal. Hope your little one is doing better. |
