| Dry Skin, Itchy !!!!!! My 2 year old pup has very dry skin and she scratches alot. Her back part of the body and legs have very little hair. She has nibbled her hair off down to the skin almost. I have tried medicated itchy shampoo, and oatmeal shampoo but nothing works. Any suggestions ? |

| There are several supplements that work just fine. Anthing that has Omega fats in it I think should do the trick. I use Veterinary Formulas "DermCare" Dietary Supplement Capsules for Small Breeds with Omega 3 and give my little lady, Jasmine (she's five pounds), one capusle every week or so during the winter months. It works great. Good luck, Littleminnie! |

| What food are you feeding? if it has corn in it that could be your problem. My yorkie chewed an area on his back and it keeps breaking out. Hes on antibiotics and anti itch meds and hassnt gotten any better. We have taken him off the Royal Canin he was eating and hoping it gets better.

| Edie gets a daily Vita Cap from Drs. Smith and Foster. She loves them. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. I started them after I found a spot on her neck that she scratched until it bled. No more of that. Her skin is very healthy. I would give the caps about a month before you really notice a change. |

| You might also PM Lexi's_Mommy (Tricia) on this topic. Her little baby has really itchy skin and she's tried everything! A very good source of knowledge if you ask me! My Dublin was a scratcher, and after trying different foods to no avail, I tried a couple of things that she suggested and it's made a world of difference. The products that I learned about from her and have had success with are: Derma Care- they didn't have the capsules for small dogs at my PetSmart, so I bought the liquid that you pump onto their food Groomax Oatmeal Shampoo and Conditioner-It was also at PetSmart. Dublin hardly scratches any more! Good luck!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I just posted this in Gen Disc, so I copied my info Chanel had a bad time scratching 2 years ago - I got her Veternarians Best Moisture Mist SKIN Conditioner at Petsmart and it stopped her itching in less than 12 hours ...it was only 8 bucks ...I just sprayed it lightly on her hair and it worked great....it's for their skin... not the coat |
