| Baking canned dog food need advice Right now my little one is on a limited diet and can only eat her canned natural balance grain free salmon and sweet potato food. Does anyone know if I can bake this to make treats for her? Will baking the canned food eliminate the nutrients in the food? I recently bought a kong and have been filling it with her canned food which gets kinda messy and was wondering if baking her canned food and then filling it with that would work better. Any suggestions? |

| I didn't have a dehydrator years ago so sometimes I used the microwave to cook pre-moistened kibble until it was dryish and then finish drying it by letting it set out in the air uncovered to dry out. I would think a dehydrator would be perfect for this job though now and save you time and trouble.

| Yes, you can bake it. I used to make Rosie's treats from her I/D can dog food. But I will warn you, your house will smell yucky!!

| Baking canned food I bake cookies for Latte-she is on Royal Canin rabbit and potato, hypoallergenic, so I couldn't give her any other treats. I put a flattened spoonful on a greased cooke sheet. I bake them at 375º for 17 minutes, then I flip them over and bake for another 10-15 minutes. They are a little soft, not too crunchy and she loves them. BONUS! They do not make the house stink-it must be the rabbit and potato. |
