| Sheldon is a little porker, am I feeding him enough? Well, Sheldon will be 18 weeks on Monday and it seems like he is always hungry. I feed him 1/2 of cup of dry food (Now Puppy grain free) a day but always have to give him a little extra. He eats 3 time a day. I asked the vet if 3/4 cups a day would be too much and she said it would be for a little guy like him. I weighed him last night and he was 4.4 lbs. How much food do you feed at this age and how many times a day. Is it okay to feed twice a day? Thanks so much for the help! |

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | being that he is only 18 weeks old...i don't think 1/2 a cup a day is enough. They are very energetic at this age and burn a lot of calories...and also being a big boy at that....he should be getting about 3/4 cups a day if not a whole cup

| I wouldn't do 1 cup. But 3/4 doesn't sound too bad. However, he's young - if he's hungry, I'd let him eat. You can start worrying about extra pounds once he's full grown around one year or so. Every dog is different and you will learn what they need to satisfy them. OR some dogs will just eat and eat and eat even if it's way too much! LOL. So you just have to know your dog. Jackson is 3, very active, and eats 2/3 cup per day of kibble (at 430 kcal/cup) and gets a few treats and a bit of wet food too.

| Thanks again, I am giving him 2/3 of a cup and that seems to be fine for now but I am pretty sure that will change in a few weeks lol |
