| Double K9 Baby Teeth First, for some reason I can't get the search to work so I did try to find things already posted first. I found a couple of things and I do know that having all or a lot of the baby teeth is bad, but I was wanting to get opinions on my situation. She is about 3.5 pounds and almost 10 months old. Both on the right side, on the top she still has her baby K9 and the two are side by side and on the bottom the baby K9 tooth is in front of the adult. [K9 tooth is the pointy sharp one, that is what I refer to the human tooth like that. I am not sure if that is actually what I should be calling it since all of her teeth are K9 teeth. ] But they all 4 look very sturdy and healthy. I check them often. She doesn't have bad breathe and I am not super good at brushing her teeth [probably about once a week] but I use this dental spray gel stuff that seems to be working well. It cleared up a little build up on my older ones teeth within a few uses that bushing wasn't helping. I was just wondering if I should try to pull these or get them pulled? Also on that note, can I pull them myself? I pulled my own baby teeth when I was younger....but I have never had anyone I know have problem with puppy teeth so I don't know how to go about this. Should I try to mess with them to loosen them up? Thanks for any help. Ashley and Somi (the baby with the double teeth) |

| I'm no expert, but my first Yorkie had double row teeth. They had to remove one row so her jaw and bite would be correct. They told me that this is not uncommon. She did fine after the procedure and she always had good teeth.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Most dogs lose their baby teeth on their own, and most Yorkies do not. No, you can't pull them yourself. If a dog doesn't lose them in the course of chewing on stuff and playing, that means the root is very deep. A vet doesn't pull them without putting them out and that's why many of us have them pulled during neutering. Your baby is way too small to ever have pups, so neutering is advisable. I know you think she'll never leave your side, but I've read so many horror stories, a young pup was visiting too young to tie, but yet he did etc. etc. Pregnancy could kill your baby. The reason the double row of teeth is bad, is the adult teeth don't always come in right if the baby teeth are present and food does build up in the crevices of the double row, and this can cause problems in time.

| NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! YOU CAN NOT PULL THEM YOURSELF!!!!!!!! This is usually done by the vet, when the baby is under anesthesia for spay/neutering! Chew toys and pulling tug of war toys aid in loosening baby teeth, but this retained baby teeth thing is common in Yorkies. |

| Most of the time when you get your puppy fixed you have the vet pull any baby teeth that have not fallen out yet. I would not do them myself a vet needs to do them and the dog needs to be under anesthesia.
