High Risk ???

I'm getting nervous thinking of this but My Miss Mia is getting closer to having to get spayed. As you may recall, Miss Mia had a heart murmur due to narrowing of the aorta, tachycardia and arythmia (sp). Her last check up showed improvements and while 2 cardiologists and 2 vets initially thought she would NOT outgrow this, she seems to be according to her last check up.

Miss Mia is going for her final round of shots on March 12th, and then we plan on scheduling her spay.

I'm wondering, IF the vet, who I trust wholeheartedly and have never had any experience where she was wrong etc., suggests going ahead with it, do you think I should STILL have the cardio see her and do anothr Echo just to make sure...I know I'm jumping ahead here, but I'm just wondering what YT folks would do?

I would I think it will give you peace of mind and if you dont I feel you will be worried sick when she gets spayed

That, and wait till she's older, 10-12 months old, especially if she's small.

I would want the cardio dr to clear mine for spay before I went ahead, especially w the history of arrhythmia and aortic coarctation (narrowing).

Thank you for your replies and really reinforcing what I was already thinking! I probably wouldn't be able to go through with this without consulting with the cardio, and then I think I have to insist on another ekg and echo too?...how about the sonogram?

This is such unfamiliar territory for me (heart issues) that I'm afraid of too much or too little in the way of tests. I don't regret having all of those tests done previously (3x) but do I need to do them all again, how do I know?

I guess I will just go to the vet appt., then make a cardio appt and go from there, if I'm not comfortable I will go with my gut...uggghhhh sometimes I feel so insecure. Its so easy to offer advice but different when its your own!
