| Out with the chews! With Gizmo's previous GI issues, I've taken the advice from my vet and YT'ers to take away any chew that could get bacteria (i.e. bully sticks, chews, etc). I asked about a Kong, and the vet said that's fine, as long as I rinse off the kong in hot water and dry it afterwards to prevent any excessive bacteria. He seems to be doing better with the lower in fats food as well, I'm guessing I have a dog that has a sensativ belly. Oh well, could be worse. Anyone else okay with kongs for their pup with a sensative tummy?

| Kongs and treat balls are fine for GI dogs in most cases as long as they are cleaned, acceptable foods are used, and the food doesn't stay at room temp for a long period (like canned food sitting in a Kong all day - that'd be bad).

| Sometimes I think they are better off if we just give them fruit, like apples, mine like cantolope, and hard food like baby carrots to chew on. I am scared of most of this stuff we buy anyway because of the choking. I know they can get choked on anything but I'm just afraid of bullysicks, chews etc. Its also alot cleaner like your vet said. Chews that lay around and get bacteria are really bad. |

| No, no canned food..Gross. We're using the mature kong treats that have the lower fat. He seems to be enjoying it. I needed something for the little chewer. So, I'm glad that seems to be working for him. He got a hold of a bully stick at my parents house yesterday, without me knowing, and it made sense why he started reverting back to old food habits. Needless to say, all bullys are getting put up when we visit grandma.

| I just got rid of all of ours here too. With Rosie's problems I took Ladyjanes advice and trashed them. Mikki didn't think it was too fair! I have not tried the Kong. I bought a Nylabone but she just turns her nose up to it and leaves it on the floor. Let me know how the Kong works! I may have to try one myself.

I needed something to keep his attention and have a cool down for the end of the night. It's nice that the kong has a wide assortment of stuffings, and I know we can add our own as well too. So, it'll be washed tomorrow with hot water, and we'll go from there! Poor Miss Mikki!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Only Nylabones for us! I have tried other chews in the past but I quickly threw them out a long time ago because her sensitive stomach never tolerated them much. It took her awhile to enjoy her Nylabones. But now she is learning that it is her only option other then her Kong. She sat on my bed and chewed on her Nylabone for a solid hour last night. I just keep offering it to her.. So far so good!

| I used to offer Princess a Kong all of the time as a pup & she'd have nothing to do with them. Now in her little "deprived" world, she loves it! I tried again so she'd have something to look forward to when I leave & she gets so excited about it! She'll start "talking" to me to get it as soon as I start putting my shoes on so I don't forget. I fill hers with I/D canned & lately have been putting a little baby food in the middle (swt. pot. & chick, which is vet OK'ed) then freezing it. When I get home one of the first things she does is ask me to fill it again, which I don't so it will stay "special".
