| Yorkie Talker | OK...here's the deal. Alphie goes in 2 days to be neutered. He is almost 8 mo. old. I don't really know what to expect. We have had many dogs, but this is our first male. We are not looking forward to the whole situation. But can anybody tell me what, if any, changes I should expect. How long before he comfy again? Will he stop marking in the house? Is his personality going to stay the same? (I hope so. That's what makes Alphie, Alphie!) Any input would be a help |

| ♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | My lily goes to be spade tomorrow she is one and a half. I am very nervous. But it's the right thing so here we go. When Riley got neutered at three and a half it really went well. He is the same dog as before. He still marks now and then but when not supervised he wears a belly band. He did breed tho and they say that is harder to train not to mark.

He did mark everything in the home, but with persistence, a belly band, and me never ever giving him free roam until he was totally trustworthy, Kaji stopped marking in about a month or two. Training was a big help because he understood that it wasn't the marking that made mommy upset, it was where he was marking. He's a dog, of course he's gonna mark. I just let him do it outside. I knew the marking wasn't going to stop overnight. It also is harder when a dog is allowed to breed, or was allowed to mark your house for a very long time without correction. The hormones slowly flush on of their system after a neuter. He was back to his spunky self in a matter of days after the neuter.

| Thanks to this post, I'm finding to courage to finally make the appointment :S It's just that, they're so tiny and fragile and we love them so very much :'), but this has to be done, right? Good luck to all of us who'll be spaying our furkids soon...

| I know exactly how you feel. I just knew Dudley would not make it. When he hit 4lbs. we went ahead and had him fixed. Kayla was 6mo. old and weighed alittle more than him. She did fine, he did fine. You will be so glad you had her spayed and she will be better off for it too. I know you know that, but, just hang in there and if you have a really good vet you trust, she will be fine. |

| Seems like just yesterday. I had Riley neutered at Exactly 6 months old. I had taken the day off work.... dropped him off in the morning and then had to keep myself busy. The Vet called right before noon and Ry was already waking up.... after that I Could Not Wait to go and pick him up. He was just a teeny big groggy for a couple of hours. That next morning it was as if nothing had happened. Then the task was keeping him from running/jumping and playing hard. Good Luck! Everything will be just fine!! |
