| Anyone here using Cyclosporine?? My vet just prescribed the drug cyclosporine for my Presley because she is just so itchy all over her body, smelly ears and just generally miserable. I thought it was allergies but the vet said it's due to yeast production that her own body can't tolerate. Anyway...Ive been researching this drug and Im freaked out. Many side effects and they are all scary. This is a LONG TERM (like forever) prescription so Im terrrified it will seriously harm her. Anybody used this drug with their babies??? | Yes. It's not perfectly safe, but no drugs are. My dog was on it short term and did fine. Many dogs stay on it for life. If you can't get to the root of the itchies and this works, then you almost have to go with it. But if it's a systemic yeast infection, then this wouldn't really be the treatment of choice. Have you seen a doggie dermatologist?

| No I haven't because my vet seemed to know exactly what was going on...she says its common (I may not be describing it correctly, but is was basically along the lines of.."her system? won't allow her to maintain normal levels of yeast so she has overproduction". Symptoms are..super itchy, black smelly ears..blackish patches on her skin, she also has an odor to her all the time . Vet never recommended that I see a derm. The plan she suggested was 1 pill a day for 30 days then wean down to as little as possible but still keep her comfortable. Are you familar with any of this?? |
