| Bowlegged 5month old puppy? Help! Hi! I got my second yorkie yesterday and my family was very happy about it. But when we got home from the breeder we noticed that he walk different from my other yorkie and after observing him for a while I noticed the bow legs. The breeder in the contract gives 48 hours for health warranty which expires tomorrow. I've been reading about luxating patella and I'm scared that it could be that. I don't want to treat a puppy as a bussiness transaction but I don't want to start with a new puppy that may need special care or even surgery that I couln't afford. |

| Bring him back to the breeders. Dont think it would be luxating patella, if the puppy is sick, talk to the breeder or get another puppy from the breeder instead. Luxating patella operation can cost from about 500 dollars to 1.500 dollars, depending on where you are.

| Take him to the vet asap. I don't know what your contract looks like, but if you want to at least get a refund to be able to pay for your pup's care, you need a vet's opinion.

| We noticed Mikki walking funny and she does have LP. A grade 4 which is pretty high up there. LP is genetic according to my vet so it is possible your pup might have it. I would have a vet check the pup out asap. Good luck!

| Thank you all for the replies. I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow morning to figure out what's going on and I'll go from there. Regarding the health insurance, if he has a hereditary or congenital disease they do give one year insurance. I'm still really sad that instead of enjoying the new puppy like I did my first, I have to be going through all these. Last edited by noleoggero; 08-21-2011 at 07:00 PM. |

| I am so sorry. What a hard thing to have to deal with right now. It is better to find out now though. We will just have to hope and pray it is nothing serious. Keep us posted after your vet visit!

| Update. I took the puppy to the vet and he said his legs are perfectly fine. No sign of any problems at all. But for my own peace of mind I went to a second vet and he confirm that he is fine. What a relief! |
