				   | My dog gets diarrhea from the heartworm medication. First we used the pill form and that gave him diarrhea. Now we are on Heartgard Plus and I gave him a half to start with after he ate and yep two hours later he has diarrhea. The first time I gave him Heartguard he did not get diarrhea Does anyone have any ideas about how I should give him this medication? Let's see how long it takes to get his tummy back to normal. Thanks for your help.

				   | What was the brand name of the pills you tried first? Was it Interceptor? Are you also giving any other medications at the same time or on the same day that you give the HW meds, for example, flea treatment? Here is a table showing the ingredients of many of the most popular brands on the market: Dog Heartworm Preventive Products Comparison Chart

				   | Yes it was interceptor. That was about three months ago. Just wondering if giving it on a full tummy is better. There are so many ingredients in them how would I even know what one is the culprit? The two I tried have different ingredients.

				   | Did you talk to the vet about it? I would try the meds with food and see if that helps. How long did the loose stool last the last time?

				   | Yep spoke to the vet so she switched us over to Heartgard Plus. He only had one wet stool. This morning he was OK.
