| Ahi's vet said to feed her 3x a day. But I don't know if it's cause she is really little. She has a mind of her own and eats well about twice a day. Morning and night. I also give her nutri-cal. But even after she eats well, if she sees me eating she will beg for food like she's starving. LOL

Owned by Bella & Tibbs Donating Member | Ok I ask the vet today and that is what he said! He said I could split the feeding up into two smaller feedings but still give him the same amount based on weight which is 2 cups . He also said that he will probably "act" hungry if it get's me to get him out of the crate.....which I'm guilty of . He said if I felt I must I could mix in a little wet food but not to over do it that he was gaining weight just fine and was probably doing it to get me to hold him.

| You feed him 2 cups per day? I'm not a nutritionist but that sounds like an awful lot. I have a 13 pound Yorkie who eats a little less than 1 cup per day.

Owned by Bella & Tibbs Donating Member | That's what the bag and vet recommends for his weight. However it is not a regular sized cup it is the cup that came in his puppy stater kit. He is on the science hill small bites diet.

I guess I'm not familiar with the starter kit cup But I do think he'll be happier if you feed him at least twice per day.

Owned by Bella & Tibbs Donating Member | Yeah that's the food! Yeah I'm gonna try feeding him in 2 feedings tomorrow! I will let you guys know how it goes! When he was smaller he never had this problem he left the food in the bowl and snacked the whole day I also got the starter kit from the vet the cup is just a small plastic cup would probably be the size of maybe a 1/2 measuring cup give or take a little.

| I think I might have the same measure cup, does it have level's on the side to mark how much food is in it?

| My 4 adult doggies get 1/2 cup twice a day. I think it is good to split the amount. Do you give any treats? You might try giving him some green beans as a treat; it will help fill him up and not add a lot of calories.

| Rosie loves green beans. She has IBS but the green beans don't bother her at all. She eats them like they are steak!

Personally I think puppies need a little more food during their first year cause they are growing, and are sooo active.
