how long will my yorkie be in heat ? My yorkie abby is about 10 months old. This is her first time in heat. I am wondering how long it will last. We are not sure if we are going to let her have a litter of puppies or not so I am not ready to spay her yet but would like more info on her being in heat. :

| Here is a site that may help understand the heat cycle and when you can expect it again. www.rottweiler-dog.fsworld.co.uk/heat_cycle.htm even though this says rottweiler, the same holds true for most dogs. I will just give you a better understanding of the heat cycle. Hope it helps and good luck.

Wow, This is also my first pup yorkie. Mine is about 8 months. So i should keep an eye on her by now right? How is this handled? She spends time alone in house. She goes on sofas, beds, so is it safe to put her in cage? I have been training her to go outside to do her business. Mine weighs 4.5lbs. And maybe would want her to have 1 litter then spay her. Can someone give me some pointers. I will check out the site Yorkease pointed out. Thanks.

I will wait anyways. I didnt want her have a litter so early. i thought maybe by her 3rd cycle. She's not gone through the first one yet. But looking for signs since she is 8 months old. I also heard the same thing you just said, too small to breed. Does anyone else know more info on this weight and size and breeding?

Hello Yorkie friends. My little girl just came in heat, she is 7 Months old. I bought puppy pants & (use ladies Mini Pads) Works wonderful. I wanted to have her spade before her 1st cycle however my vet would not spade her until she had her Kennel Cough shot & then he said we would have to wait one month after the shot. Surprise, Saturday she came into her 1st. heat. Now we are going to have her spaded Feb.4-2016We owned a Yorkie for 13 years & she passed away from cancer last Sept. 15th 2015. I would only recommend only Breeders (breed). There are so many people who breed their dogs & you have to be so careful of the males health papers before you get into breeding partners. We just wanted a little girl to be part of our family to Love with all our hearts and believe me she is very loved.
