| ![]() Just out of curiosity, do you guys split the tablet for your yorkies? Would that make it ineffective. I've heard of people doing it, but don't know if that works...I know that works for frontline, but I just want to make sure if heartguard works like that too.

| ![]() No, you should not split them. The dose is not evenly measured out throughout; so you could be giving all in 1/2 or none.

| ![]() Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I do use heartguard and will continue, but it is always nice to be aware and have information on the products used on the little ones. |

I use Heartguard and I use to split them until my vet told me not to. I figured that it would work regardless of the size of the dose they received because they were half the recomended size/weight. But than the vet started to make me have the dogs tested more frequently and costing me more money in the long run. So, I stopped doing that. Plus they said that if they did get heartworm that that company would not cover the cost due to missuse of the drug. I'm not sure how to feel about the cover up & not adding the 80/20% ineffectiveness of the drug. My dogs have been on Heartgurad for 9 yrs and I have not had any issues with it.
