| Comfortis??? I was wondering if anyone has used comfortis and not had their babies get sick? I was afraid to use it but the breeder told me that she used it with all of her babies. One of the side effects is vomiting. I gave it to them Saturday and Dudley was the only one that got sick. Not much, more of a spit up thing twice. It scared me because he is so tiny. I gave him the 0 to 10lbs. but cut his in half. Maybe I should just stick to Advantage. I hate this flea thing every year. I hate putting any chemicals on or in my babies at all.. |

| I always check with the Vet when in doubt. We live in Fl. where the fleas are a year round prob. I have spent thousands on flea control. I had the yard treated, ripped up carpet and replaced it with tile and used Advantage and Frontline. Then my Vet rec. Comfortis. With in a week No More Fleas ! (But my Vet says I can not use it on my breeding dogs it may affect fertility or puppies and cause birth defects) So I only use it on nonbreeding dogs. No ill affects here. I use cedar chip pillows for their beds, I think this helps too. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Yes, we use Comfortis and it works well for Roxy. It doesn't make her sick really, but have noticed that she isn't real ambitious those days, including her heartworm med days. I make sure she has food in her tummy first. She puked the first time I gave it to her on an empty stomach. This year vet wanted to change to another brand for all her dogs, but the Comfortis works so well that I wasn't willing to change. She got it in for me. Roxy had a bad reaction to Frontline before we started the Comfortis, so I'm super sensitive to wanting to switch from something that I know works. Haven't had a flea problem in her 2-1/2 yrs. Others here can use Frontline w/no problems, but not Roxy. Best bet is to follow what vet recommends. It could be Dudley is just the only one who is sensitive to it. Do you remember if he had food in his stomach when you gave it to him? If he didn't try it after he eats, or switch to another brand.

| The safety profile isn't great and it is pretty new. Doesn't come near my kiddo. The owners that like it seem to REALLY like it though which is good.

| Dudley had eaten. I never give my babies any kind of meds, even their heartworm pill on an empty stomach. I am glad I didn't give him the whole pill. It could be he is just sensitive to it, but, somehow I feel safer putting the advantage on them instead of the pill. Its just like putting the poison right in them. I just don't trust anything anymore, even their food scares me. The vet did recommend Comfortis and even Dudley's breeder. She feels just the oposite of me. She had rather give the pill, than put something on them. Its just scarey and I'm a worry wart when it comes to my babies. I didn't give Tina hers. She is our little 14yr. old schnauzer that has dementia and heart problems. |

| We've used Comfortis on Tatum (6 lbs.) and the other 2 big dogs with no problems at all. I would avoid giving it on an empty stomach just to be on the safe side. That goes for pretty much any medication (unless instructed otherwise).

| Oh, well like I said in the above post, my babies never get any kind of meds, not even the heartworm perventative without eating first. I never even take my meds on an empty tummy. lol!!! |

| I tried going the all natural route last year and we were miserable with fleas. Isabel was chewing her hind end off and I was bathing them every day or 2. Vet gave me Comfortis for her and Moses and my lab Homer and we had no flea problems for the rest of the year. Now that it has finally quit raining, fleas are out again. I have given them Frontline, but they are still scratching. If it keeps up, I will use Comfortis again. Didn't bother any of my dogs and Mosey has a very sensitive stomach. |

| Comfortis I use it on both of mine but my vet told me to cut it in half and give one half one day and the other half the next day. This has worked fine for me. |

| We really didn't change from Advantage, in fact, I think I still have some. The breeder suggested it. She said she did not like to put anything on them and prefered the oral med. The vet told me that actually comfortus can be used with Advantage. I'm just leary of everything I guess. I was so afraid of them getting sick and vomiting, so thank goodness it was only Dudley. He is such a little guy though and probably has a pretty sensitive tummy. |

| We are very pleased with Comfortis ... never had a problem with Toto and she too is given all her meds with food [just like Nonnie & Papa!]. Her other monthly med is Interceptor ... no problem with that either. I suppose that all our babies just have different systems.

| It may be able to be given with Advantage, but there should be no reason to give both. They are both adulticides (so basically do the same thing). Not understanding where the breeder is coming from here unless she had dogs try to lick the area where the topical is applied and they were getting sick. Did she see the number of reactions reported to the FDA in a short period of time caused by Comfortis before suggesting it? I'm not saying I would never use it, but there are more trusted products available that we go to first.

| Well since I gave little Dud just a half pill I think I will stick with the advantage. I feel safer with it somehow than the pill. We didn't have a problem with it. Like they say, if its not broke, don't fix it. ugh! Too late now. I would never give comfortis and advantage together. I wold be too afraid of over medicating them. For those who haven't had a problem, thats great. I think for our bunch we will stick with advantage. Thanks for all the respondses. It helps to always get more opionions. Appreciate you all. |
