| Wet food okay? One time I added some wet food to the dry for my puppy because she wasn't eating. (She's 11 weeks old now). Naturally, she won't eat dry food alone now...I spoiled her . The vet said it's fine to feed her wet food, but I was wondering what others in the forum think about that. I mix some dry in with the wet, but she's pretty good at fishing out the wet and leaving the dry. Bad mommy? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Not bad mommy at all! It's a personal preference really. Some like canned some don't. I have always added a big Tablespoon or 2 of wet food to Taycie's food. I don't mind seeing her enjoy her food! I also like adding more moisture to her food, sometimes I don't think she drinks enough so the added moisture is a plus! One of the biggest concerns with wet food is that it will cause teeth issues. Some believe that feeding primarily a dry food reduces the chance of plaque and tarter buildup. I personally have different feelings. I truly feel that if you are feeding a high quality wet food and implementing a dental routine, then I don't think there is a problem. I know for instance some lower quailty canned foods add High Fructose Corn Syrup and other nasty additives. Of COURSE, if you are not brushing teeth the obvious will occur. It is the same if I ate a bag of candy and didn't brush. I am pretty sure I would be making an appointment with the dentist. I also don't agree with the fact that dry food can help clean the teeth. Have you ever seen their food come back up if they lost their cookies? Most of the time half of it is NOT even chewed up. Basically, its would be like us relying on pretzels to clean our teeth. Taycie has a severely sensitive stomach. I find the added moisture content helps her digest her food. I think her poop is smaller and she enjoys it! I also brush Taycie's teeth morning and night. I use C.E.T toothpaste, and a weekly treament of Petzlife gel. She also chews on flossies or bully sticks. Our last vet visit my vet commented on how beautiful Taycie's teeth were I don't see a problem with it all. Just make sure to brush the teeth!

| Canned food is fine- I use it on and off. All the added moisture content in canned food can actually be beneficial. I think it is important for dogs to chew something, just to keep their jaw muscles/ teeth working- but they can easily chew toys, treats, chews, etc, it doesnt need to be kibble.

| I use can but I mix in dry with it as well. Of course, Rosie prefers the canned food!

Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | I add wet to Paris' dry and I also add some water. I have to make sure he gets the water he needs so he doesn't get bladder stones again. The dry food is still crunchy so he gets the teeth cleaning action also. Best of both worlds for him! www.paristheblindwonderdog.blogspot.com |

| My little one likes to pick the dry food out of the we as well. I have just decided that I will keep trying to get her to eat more dry food. She also gets a carrot stick a day and we are learning to brush teeth. |
