| Interceptor, Capstar and Comfortis Looks like, despite my vigilance, the boys have picked up fleas. I just gave them their monthly dose of Inteceptor on the 17th. Do you think it would be safe to give them the oral flea treatments Capstar and Comfortis, both. That is what my vet recommended. I'm a little leery of so much chemical, but the topical just gets washed off because of frequent baths. I wouldn't be giving both at once-the Capstar today and the Comfortis on Saturday or Sunday. I KNOW that I have to treat the house and yard. I have CedarCide for that. |

| You don't need both. Comfortis does essentially the same thing as Capstar, it just takes longer and lasts longer. The only reason to give them both is to kill the adult fleas immediately with Capstar and then have a month of continued protection from Comfortis. If you aren't starting either right now, then it would be urgent enough to give both unless I'm missing something. That said, if your vet said to, then you probably should... Ok, reread. Yes, you could give it today and Comfortis on the weekend. A bath with Dawn would accomplish much the same as the Capstar though.

| Thanks, Ellie. I was on the same train of thought about not needing the Capstar if the Comfortis did the same thing. I'm fixing to bathe the boys in a few minutes and DH will bring home the meds after work. I'm somewhat leery to use Dawn on Neo as he has some skin issues. I have sprayed both boys with Best Yet to kill the fleas that I could see and Neo isn't "speaking" to me right now. He hates that stuff, but its safe and it works when I need a quick fix! |
