My 7 month old female just got spayed a week ago. She is peeing all over the house! Prior to surgery, she had occasional accidents, but now it is out of control. The urine is not dark, so I don't believe it is a bladder infection. Any other explanation?

It will take some time for her to return to normal after the spay. Some incontinence after spay is something that is expected and will go away.

Is it regular accidents or small spots/ dripping?

Could be spay incontinence.

Could be a UTI.

Could just be a lapse in potty training.

I would get a urine sample in to the vet first to rule out infections.

Her urine has to be checked immediately (since it has already been a few days that this has been going on). UTIs are common after abdomen surgery. The urine does not have to be dark.

If there is no infection, then it could be just her adjusting to the surgery or a potty training thing. Incontinence is possible, but long term invontinence wouldn't be as likely as a simple infection.

Thanks for the posts. Is there any other symptom if it is a UTI? She is not acting sick... Very much back to normal the day after. Urine light in color. I'm calling the vet on Mon.

Even though they act normal dogs can be sick or in pain, as you know. I'd just get her checked out to be certain. I sure hope it is nothing too bad. Probably just a UTI or she was just seriously discombobulated by the surgery, staying at the vet's, the pain and is a bit out of kelter. Thik the meds could have relaxed her muscle control??? I'll sure be praying this baby is okay. Please let us know what the vet says.

Princess started peeing on the floor again after her spay but it was determined that she most likely had an accident or two from being on the pain meds and out of it, then when she felt better was confused about where she was supposed to go again, especially since she could smell the prior spots.

Be sure to use an enzyme cleaner & according to Nature's Miracle (widely recommended) you have to soak all the way through the pad into the floorboards for it to be effective...which can take 2-3 weeks to dry, & wont "work" until it is dry. (Just trying to save you the headache & waste of time & money I incurred).

Hope the vet can rule anything else out and she's feeling better soon!
