| ![]() I'm Jovi's mom - she is a 12 week old Morkie who we've had for 2 weeks now. She has been your typical puppy - learning what is okay to chew and where it is okay to potty - she has been eating Iams puppy food since we got her (that is what the breeder fed her) no problems until yesterday! She weighs 3 lbs 16 ounces and had a wellness check on Friday - no problems found but she did geta distemper shot! She ate and played normally until last night - then she barely ate and when she went potty her stool looked a little loose. This am she wouldn't eat the kibble but still had a loose stool - so we followed the breeders advice and mixed a little soft puppy food in with it - she gobbled it up and then played for about 15 mins - crashed out for about 30 mins then threw up all she ate. She has been drinking water and being playful so I don't want to over react but I don't want to under react either.... Also - the vet said she was teething.. any advice/ help would be appreciated! Thanks Jovi's Mom ![]() |

| ![]() Was she dewormed? Worms can cause a loss of appetite at times, vomiting and diarhhea. Sometimes puppies can get diarhea from being vaccinated. But overeating can cause vomiting too. There are many more things though that can cause both vomiting and diarhhea, i would call you vet . |

| ![]() It's probably the vaccine that she received yesterday that is making her feel a little under the weather. If she is not feeling better tomorrow I would call your vet for a follow up.

| ![]() although i DO NOT think its an emergency yet. AS long as she is her normal active self, and drinking plenty. I myself would not worry too much yet. But if the diarhhea last throughout the day or she seems lethargic then i would definatly worry. But then again i have been a veterinary assistant for 12 years, so not alot gets me too worried, because its actually pretty common for a puppy to get soft stool and vomit for many reasons. As long as it doesnt happen often. |

| ![]() Thanks for the advice!- she stopped drinking water and was very lethargic so being an overprotective first time Mom we went to the emergency care. They gave her an IV and some pepcid like stuff. Only water in the next 6 hrs then boiled chicken and rice tomorrow. Every 4 hrs put a little pancake syrup on her gums. If she holds down the chicken and rice then back to her regular food on Tuesday. |

| ![]() That is going to be really tough. Since this was a important vaccine, and she needs more puppy shots, I would be concerned about the other vaccine she is going to need. Talk to your vet about this. not certain what they can do to help her not get sick like that again from the shots. Maybe they could give her half the dosage? Hope your baby starts feeling better soon .

| ![]() Hi, welcome to Yorkie Talk. Glad your furbaby got help and is doing better ![]() Definatly let your regular vet know before the vaccine booster. What specifically was in the distemper shot? It's a combo. vaccine - does the paperwork say DHPP or DHLPP? If there's an "L" in there, tell your vet you DO NOT want Lepto vaccine anymore, but I'm sure if you explain her reaction and it was used, they'll come to that conclusion. Another thing you can talk to your vet about for next time is possibly giving something like Benadryl prior to getting vaccinated. (just a side note - you should think about switching to a different food, Iams isn't good, it's full of corn and byproducts)

| ![]() thanks - the vet thinks it was a combination of everything - no lepo in the shot though. She is better - loves plain white rice and boiled chicken - no vomiting and no diarrhea - no pooping at all yet. keeping our fingers crossed we are over the worst. Thanks everyone for the support - so glad I found this sight! |
