| Sluggish and not wanting to eat 4 days after spay... My yorkie girl Sassy is 2 years old and was spayed on Friday. Her incision looks wonderful but all she is doing is laying around, refusing to eat. She is peeing and drinking, she has pooped a little bit too. I am just concerned. Is this normal behavior? She was in heat when they spayed her. Could hormonal changes be making her feel bad? She has a recheck with out vet on Friday. I am just a worried mom |

| If she isn't on pain drugs and needs them, that could cause inappetance. If she is on certain pain drugs, it could be a side effect. Hormonal change post-spay can cause some behavior change (usually short-term), but I wouldn't expect no eating for four days.

| Since she is post-op, wouldn't you feel better just getting a vet check-up. Just in case. |

| Just got back after 2 hours at the vet with Sassy. She has lost 2 pounds from not eating Seems she has had an anesthesia reaction and that combined with the pain medication caused issues. She was badly dehydrated so the gave her subcutaneous fluids, 2 injections for nausea and to stimulate her digestive system, and a full panel of bloodwork which all came back normal. THANK GOODNESS! I feel so bad for her They want me to try and feed her in a few hours...hoping she eats something |
