Tartar/Plaque starting to build up...

Joey, our 2 year old Yorker is a happy guy with very little plaque, and we have brushed him maybe three times in the whole two years, which is my fault for not being patient enough. I do brush his coat every night religiously, but have had trouble with the toothbrushing. So the vet gave us what amounts to sea weed extract in a powder form, i.e. Clenz-a Dent. I sprinkle a super tiny amount with the teensie spoon they provide, over his breakfast each morning which is supposed to help keep the plaque down. Yes, I am also supposed to brush but haven't really given it much of a try and will wait for the Vet to say he needs a professional cleaning from her staff. Yet his teeth continue to look good. If they do start looking bad, that may be the push I need to really try to figure out how to get those tiny little teeth brushed regularly.

Jack had the same issue and I refused to put him under. Thankfully I found a small family owned pet supply store that offers teeth cleaning. He has a dental hygienist clean his teeth once a month and all she uses is a pick and a tooth brush but it does wonders! I also brush his teeth about twice a week (not as often as I should). Thanks for the info, Ill print it out and show it to Kenzie´s vet and see what he says about it and also, I hope that, if necessary, he´d refer me to someone who does this kind of cleaning.
Been brushing her more often these weeks and the little bleeding is almost gone by now, thats a good thing too.
