| Yorkie won't chew his food! I adopted a male Yorkie a couple years ago and he had absolutely no manners because he was left alone all the time to do as he wished, he was left alone for many hours at a time and I think they didn't seem to have him on very good food, he was always starving! Well I have him on a regimental schedule with really good food, and he has no need to act like he's starving. My main problem is " He does not chew his food" , he just guzzles it all down in about 6 gulps!, my Shi-itzu takes his time and eats one crunchie at a time( he's very methodical), the Yorkie is done and licked the whole floor and bowl clean by the time I put the rest of the food away, then he sits in the corner waiting for his brother to finish hoping to get a few crumbs (which I don't allow because of different diets). I've hand fed him, one crunchie at a time, didn't work, I went to plan B: praising the Shi-itzu when he crunch's a crunchy as a treat, the Yorkie might crunch the first 2 then that's it! This is why I feed him digestive enzymes with his food, hoping they will do the work he doesn't. Anyone else have this problem? and worried about it?? My Yorkie is about 10lbs,( 5kg ) he is very tall and very long( he's not a tea cup that's for sure!) |

| My girls will swallow soft treats like cheese, pieces of chicken etc whole....but I've never seen them swallow hard food...wish I had some advice but I don't...hopefully someone else has this problem too... Welcome to YT? If the kibble is small, and bite size then hopefully you won't have to worry about him choking...
