| ![]() I have Honest Kitchen Preference that I use with a meat but it doesn't set well with Peanut...it upset his tummy. I looked at their other formulas and there are a couple that would work but I want a dry food I can leave down if we leave for the day. Cooking for them isn't an issue but sometimes we have a long day away from home and I want to make sure they have food available if they need it. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I LOVE the Honest Kitchen but it did not sit well with Taycie. The second ingredient in all the formulas other then Zeal and Keen is Flaxseed. It is great but it cleaned Taycie right out. Literally she pooped all day long! I did call HK and consulted with one of the nutritionists. She was very helpful and did apologize and she was the one that told me the flaxseed was the issue. She did recommend Zeal, because this formula was the first one to be flaxseed free, but with Taycie's issues with fish, it just wasn't an option. Also The Embark formula's fiber content is a 9.6%, on that one she pooped a total of 8 times in one day! It was HORRIBLE. I love the company and their philosphy but it did not agree with Taycie.

| ![]() We picked up 2 new bags of food today...Pinnacle Duch and Natural Balance Venison. We opened the bag of Pennicle and gave each of them a few pieces and they loved it! I also put a few pieces in with their home cooked supper and they loved it...so far no upset tummies or gas issues. Tomorrow I'll open the Natural Balance and give them a few pieces of that and see how it goes. I want to get them used to the new food before putting it down in a bowl for them so a few pieces at a time will work for now. So far...so good...Megan hasn't had any issues...we may have a keeper! ![]() |

Yay! So glad to hear! I understand the senstive stomach route all to well. Everytime I would try to switch her to something no matter how slow I did it she would end up having explosive diaherra. Until I found out her issue with salmon. There is so many dog foods out there with some form of Salmon in them, I was SHOCKED! She has NEVER had an issue with Pinnacle duck/potato and I am so happy! Her eyes, coat, are so much better! Not to mention her tummy I am sure feels better. I am going to try Natural Balance next, I want to find a few I can rotate with. There is another one I found in my search made by Addiction Dog Foods called Wild Kangroo and Apples. It is also a limited ingredient diet and have been interested in that also.

| ![]() I was surprised to see Salmon Oil in so many foods too. I found a couple of other brands that looked promising until I read 'salmon oil' down the list of ingredients. Oh well, at least I now have 1 food and maybe 2 that will work for her. I know home cooking is working but I want that little safety net of free feeding dry food in case we have to be gone past supper time. I went through the bags of treats we have too...read the labels and used a Sharpie marker to write 'Moo' (Megan's nick name) on the bags she can have and 'not for Moo' on the ones she can't have so we don't make any mistakes. |
