They are complete balanced foods so they can be fed without supplement. I use (meat) supplements (on some meals, not all) because I feel they are a little low on protein. It is not required though. We do give raw meaty bones on Sunday for the dental benefits.
Yes, you can use them for active adults as well. You'll have to experiment with the feeding amount because those two formulas are higher in calories (per cup).
For our adults, we feed a rotation of Force and Zeal, with them getting Embark about 1-2x per week. Roxy, our puppy, alternates between Thrive and Embark only for a couple more months. We've just ordered the other formulas for the first time (Keen and Verve).
