Dry, Crumbly Stool

Does anyone know what would cause dry, crumbly stool? We feed EVO Turkey & Poultry, no bones, no treats, but have fed white rice and boiled chicken recently. Just curious if anyone else has encountered this...thanks in advance!

Your baby may be dehydrated. Do you keep water down? Also, a high quality food or raw fed may cause this. If it persist you need to take your little one to the vet. I mean do not let it go past a day or so.

Make sure clean water is down 24/7, and if it persists, I'd take her to the Vet. and have her anal glands checked.

Just my opinion, but dry/crumbly stools concern me wayyyy less than wet/runny stools. Dry/crumbly can also be a sign that they're not pooping out undigested by-products/food which can cause voluminous smelly poos.

How long have you been feeding the chicken/rice? Bc when feeding that, their diet won't be balanced unless you use strict supplementation. It's fine for short term or when they're sick...but not long term.

... Although I would add that either would concern me, especially the straining. You may want to add some Omega 3 fish oil supplement to the food you are using. 'Omega Tri-V Liquid' is vet prescribed. ♥

How old is the dog? It could be from dehydration but I have also read that a dry gray stool is an indication of liver disease.

Pale gray stools

Bile is made up of electrolytes, cholesterol, bile acids, bilirubin, (an orange yellow pigment in bile that forms as a product of hemoglobin) and globulins. It is produced and channeled by liver cells for storage in the gall bladder. Bile is important for drug elimination, re-circulation of red blood cells and absorption of fats from intestines into the blood stream. Bilirubin, which is toxic, must be detoxified and excreted into the intestines for further break up into urobilinogen. Urobilinogen gives stool its dark brown color. Liver disease may obstruct the bile duct and hamper this excretion resulting in pale gray colored feces.

My puppy has the same problem, do u know if diet causing this? He's on Orijen puppy and poop twice daily..I fed him TOTW before and he poop like crazy ( more than 6 times daily ) and after i switch to Orijen he went back to normal but the stools are sometimes dry and crumble
