| Hello! i just joined yorkie talk today!! i was looking online for information and i figured what better way than to ask people who have yorkies!!! well my little hunter (he's 3 months and 1 week old) loves to do things that put him in danger. He's constantly jumping off things like the couch. Well today he jumped out of one of my friends' arms who was holding him. He landed on his head and i heard a horrible smacking noise. He ran off and hid under the bed. I was hysterically crying not knowing what to do!....He's acting perfectly fine now but i'm still soooo worried!! what should i dO??? I called the vet and they told me to just look out for certain signs like dizziness and lethargy...if anyone has had this happen or knows anything about it please let me know THANKS!!! and thanks for letting me be part of your group!!! |

| Ok, u are not alone. My Dolce did the same thing....she constantly is like a little Evil Kneivel and jumps off of anything and tries to climb onto anything....she jumped outta my boyfriends arms when she was about 3 months old and landed on her foot...she didnt cry or anything and then was limping around but not acting like it hurt, just like she was scared or she shocked herseld. I took her to the vet anyway and they were surprised she didnt cry. They gave me some antibiotic in case it was sprained and she limped for a day or 2 and then was fine. She has banged her head a million times on the corners of the walls when she in mid sprint and from the sound i thought she cracked her head open. Alas, she was fine and i was the one who almost had the heart attack. Like the vet said, just make sure he isnt showing any signs of a concussion or anything worse. Im sure he will be fine as he sounds like he is a tough little one like mine. We're all here for u if u need to ask anything!!! Puppy kisses from Dolce to ur little one!!

| Hi and welcome to Yorkie Talk. There are so many of us here who have Yorkie's who have no fear at all. For such little fragile babies that they are they sure think they can fly. I am so sorry your little Hunter was hurt, that is so scary! As your vet said just remain what you are doing and watch him like a hawk. Keep a watch to make sure he continues to eat/drink, etc. Keep us posted on how Hunter is doing and if you see any signs at all that he isn't acting the same Id bring him into to your vet.

| if something was really wrong, you probably would have caught it allready. Normally "neurological' problems will show effect RIGHT after the initial fall, i think you might be in teh clear |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk - Tia does the same thing - I really have to watch her, sometimes she just wants to leap out of our arms. Sounds like Hunter is fine though, like orinskye said, the problems usually show up right away

| If it makes you feel a little better , I know that fear that you are going through. A few weeks ago Gucci my puppy lost her footing on my couch and took a 3ft drop on to my ceramic tiles. I heard a thump from upstairs and ran downstairs she was motionless and her body was stiff. I thought she died. Make a long story short , I rushed her to the vet, he said she knocked the wind out of herself. I had to give her anti imflatatory pills for a week. I had to watch her for a few days, she bounced right back so Im sure Hunter will be fine.. Just keep an eye out on him...Good Luck |

| wow! i love this website so many people offer support i love it!!! thank you all for your information. Hunter seems to be doing just fine today as well! I don't think i'll be letting anyone hold him unless they are sitting on the floor or couch. He's too brave and especially when he gets excited! I'm still going to be worried for the next few weeks though! i just can't help it when it comes to my little baby! i love him so much!! but there is one weird thing since this has happened!! he's had gas really bad....But it could be the new treats that i started giving him just this weekend ? who knows. but thanks so much u guys!!! |
