| problems with Merrick puppy food has anyone had any problems with the merrick puppy food? 3 times this week my yorkie has had loose stools and has been vomiting up her food. Im not sure if its the food or something else. she is still playful and drinking plenty of water. The weird thing is we are half way through the bag.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I wonder if it is the food? I have never tried the puppy food but I have used their canned foods before. I wonder if there is something else going on that would be causing this. I would call your vet and take in a stool sample to rule out an underlying issue. I could usually tell if Taycie was not agreeing with her food in the first week or so. I know every dog is different. If it was me I would take a stool sample and see the vet then go from there. | thanks, she was fine yesterday so im gonna wait and see. I did read a thread about over feeding can make your dog sick and i have been using the chart on the bag which says 1 cup. I also wonder if her being in heat has anything to do with it? but if she does continue i will bring her to the vet. and switch her back to wellness.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I have been feeding merrick's for a long time with no adverse issues. How big is she? She eats a whole cup of that in a day. My female is about 3 lbs and it takes probably two days for her to eat a whole cup. You might be overfeeding her. Maybe it is something to do with her being in heat. We geta bit out of sorts when we are on our cycle. Not sure as my girl is fixed. Good luck.

| Harley is 5 lbs and she does eat a whole cup in a day. She never had this problem on wellness but i did cut back her serving for today. I feed her twice a day. The vet pushed back our spay date and of course she came into heat so now she is scheduled for next week. Thank goodness!! It could be a mixture of things, who knows but I am watching her carefully.

Ok after I read this I had a DUH moment I think you are right, I think she was eating way to much. Taycie who is 5.13 pounds eats 1/8 cup kibble at each meal with 1 Tablespoon of wet mixed in. She has never even made it to the 1/2 cup without diaherra. I can tell when she has eaten to much. I also have to be careful with treats because that seems to also encourage her diaherra. Sometimes she gets a little bit of either chicken jerky, green beans, carrots or small pieces of apple but that is it. (not all of that in one day either lol) I tend to feed those instead alot of processed treats as well because they reak havic on her little stomach! | I have just read that Merrick dog food has been recalled. I don't know all the products that Merrick makes, but there are a few on the list. i found this out because my yorkie has been having issues with vomiting for the past week. He eats Iams. Iams has been recalled. Even though he doesn't eat the particular type of Iams food that was recalled, he still got very sick and I think most of the food is made in the same plant.
