| I'm in the DC area and that is VERY reasonable. My vet charges around $500 and we are in MoCo. The only thing that looks a bit off in your estimate is the microchipping. I swear I paid only about $30 to do that a few years ago. That is a very simple procedure (nothing more than an injection under the skin), does not require anesthesia, and can be done by the ASPCA for A LOT less. You do the registration yourself. The DC area has some very high rates for pet care.

I agree the DC area Definitely has a very high rate for pet care. My Vet charges $65.00 for an office visit.....so I had to pay $65.00 every time I took Riley in there for his puppy vaccinations. That hurt! They also had me fill out the registration form for the microchipping and leave it with them. They said that they do a weekly batch of registrations.... because after Katrina, there were a huge amount of dogs that were found that had microchips but were never registered.... so they could not find the owners. | |

| wow that seems really high to me. I've had the same vet for the last 30 years and he's great. He just started his practice when I started going to him. He charged me $132.00 for the spay $50 for the pre-op blood work, $10.00 for pain medication and cleaned her teeth for $20.00 and trimmed her toes nails for free. My return visit to take out the stickes was included. His office visit are $30 for a long visit $20 for a short and no office visit charge when you bring them in to get shots and he still checks them out. |

| Here in Baldwin County my vet charged $194.00 last Dec. for Neo. That included: Pre-op bloodwork $29.00 Neuter for 50# or less $88.00 Extract 4 baby teeth $30.00 Microchip w/activation fee $49.00 Metacam liquid $11.00 Amoxi-drops $ 9.60 There was no charge for the stitches removal and overall checkup. I'm hoping that Connor's neuter will be even less, as his baby teeth came out on their own. |

| I live in MD and the vet we take the pups to is a DVM, but also the States Veterinary Pathologist. He and his daughter run their small facility which is strictly medical, no boarding or grooming. Bratac's neuter charge was very similar to your cost as well, however, I am paying for his expertise in the pathology field. Andromeda has Lymes and although I have heard that they are a little on the high side for the state, I find their knowledge, kindness, and service exceptional and would not consider relocating to another cheaper vet. Due to the fact that our pup does have Lymes disease, it is important to me, and to her, that she has someone who is trained in pathologies so that we can monitor her and be alerted to any new issues arising from the disease. |

| I had Ozzie neutered and Gidget spayed the same day last week. Both had a complete blood panel done before laser surgery. Total cost for both was $389.

| +1 here for the onsies! I have used them on both my dogs (when Vinnie had surgery and for Alex because of his bad skin allergies). They are a lifesaver!! The best ones are the onsies that have snaps near the neck. The ones without snaps near the neck tend of stretch out around the shoulders and the dog can slide out of them. If they have snaps near the neck, they tend to stretch less and stay on better. Alex is about 10 lbs and wears a 6 mos old size. Target has the best selection (they are around $4-5 each).

| Since the vet we like the most was out on maternity leave we used another clinic to neuter Raley. There is an hour difference between these 2 clinics....our favorite charges $70 for male and $85 for female. However, we paid $126.50 for the neutering at the other clinic. The microchip was injected a few months earlier for $45 including registration!

| I just had Connor neutered yesterday. He had the pre-op bloodwork, neutering, microchip and activation fee, pain and antibiotic shots. Luckily, he had no baby teeth to pull. His total bill was $170.00. He will get additional pain meds or antibiotics, only if needed. So far, today he acts like nothing is bothering him--other than his big bro, LOL! |
