Blue Buffalo food opinions? My Yorkie, Lilly, was on Eukanuba when I got her from the breeder. I wanted her on something much more holistic than that, so I did a little research and started her on the Blue Buffalo Small Breed Puppy formula. She has been on Blue Buffalo for about 9 months now. She's now on their Small Breed Adult formula. I haven't noticed any problems with her. She's at a good weight. The vet always talks about how healthy she looks and the groomer comments every time on how nice her coat is. I've been reading alot of threads on here about dog food and haven't heard anyone mention Blue Buffalo at all. Did I not do enough research? Is Blue Buffalo not that good of a food? I would just like to know other peoples opinions on the food I've had my furbaby on for so long and if there's something better I should switch her to. Thanks!

I think I have tried everything under the sun. We are now feeding ours Blue Buffalo canned food and Royal Canine small breed kibble. I just keep the kibble out in case they need something to eat. Mine seem to like it real well except Kayla is gassy at times. The others have done real well on it.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Taycie is also on Blue Buffalo. We went through the "quest" to find a new food and they would work for about 2 weeks then we would end up with chronic diaherra. When I first got Taycie I started her on Blue Buffalo small breed chicken and oatmeal and it always has worked for her. Just so you are aware BB did just do a recent recall on their Wilderness and their Basics line, this is why I started to look elsewhere. I still like the food and for some reason it works really well for her. When she is on this, she has nice tiny poops, no tummy upsets AT ALL, and poops about 2x a day. We have tried MANY foods and always come back to BB. It really seems to work for Taycie. I think I will give her little system a break for the next couple of months and see what happens. I do wish I could get her on something like Acana and I really like The Honest Kitchen, their new fish formula came out, Zeal, and I think it would really work for her but it is SO expensive..But for now her tummy needs a break, so Blue Buffalo it is! |

| I've been feeding Blue Buffalo for about six months and haven't had any problems so far. I was using Merrick's Before Grain, but I just moved and it is hard to find in this area. My two really seem to the like the Blue Buffalo. However, at first, they wouldn't eat the dark brown pieces. They'd pick them out and leave them lying all over the house. After a couple of months, it has gotten much better.

I think BB is a wonderful food. Yes they did have a recall recently, but I don't think that that should be a reason to stop using their food altogether. The recall was voluntary and they made sure it was known right away. Plus, not every formula was affected, only certain ones. I still feel very confident in the company about the quality of their products. Sasha is currently eating the BB Wilderness formulas and is doing very well on them. She's also getting Primal Raw as one of her meals.

I have been feeding mine BB weight control for a year now. He loves it and I have not had any problems with it. When my vet asked what food I feed him and I told her BB she was very pleased.

This is the food that my Yorkie is on. We've been on numerous of other brands, and this seems like the one he likes. Sometimes he picks out pieces he doesn't want or the blueberries, but other than that he will eat it. But if he doesn't, don't worry. He may not be hungry yet. No dog will starve and they will eat eventually, as I was told when I told the Vet of his numerous of brands he's been on. Some dogs have issues with corn and other products, and this doesn't. It is the health food for dogs. Good Luck

BB Food ! I changed to BB Adult Chicken & Rice from Ca Natural Lamb and Rice, and he loves it. He gobbles it all up, dry, black bits and all!! He poops 2 x /day, nice and firm unlike Ca Nat where his poop was loose and yellow looking. His licking paws also seems to have stopped. The formula looks very good and healthy and BB is, I believe, a very good food. However, different dogs react differently to foods and one just has to experiment and find what is good for them. Good Luck! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/ima...imeeyorkie.gif Last edited by dottiesyrky; 11-05-2010 at 08:03 AM.

I alternate Blue Buffalo and Taste of the Wild for Knox. He gets tired of one, and I give him the other. Blue Buffalo is really expensive, and Taste of the Wild is quite cheap, but Taste of the Wild scores a lot higher when tested. Of course Yorkies don't eat much, so price is practically a non-issue. I think TOTW may be a little rich for my boy to eat all the time, so I like the idea of switching him periodically. That way he gets the nutrients of Blue and the protein of TOTW. He's doing great, except when grandma babysits him. She told me the other day that he was hungry, so she got him a happy meal. Not sure how you stop that one.

Blue Buffalo is the first food my little Sadie has not thrown up. I used to feed Royal Canin but she would loose a few kibble every meal.
